How to throw a last-minute Oscar party
Neat little article over at the San Jose Mercury News. Go on over and read it. Here's a snippet:
You might pick one film to set the theme for the evening. ``Sideways,'' for instance, can mean a wine and cheese party, suggests Lavene Washington, owner of Lavene Washington Caterer in San Jose. ``Select a wine region and encourage guests to bring a bottle of wine representing it,'' she says. Then serve fondue and a tossed green salad, and for dessert, an assortment of fruits, cookies and brownies. For decorations, arrange cut flowers (try the farmers markets) and lots of candles, both pillars and tea lights. Stock up on these at dollar stores, Cost Plus and Ikea.
