Bizarre horror pitch for The Burrowers

This had me looking oddly at the screen in slight disbelief the other day when I read it. The blurb for the story just sounds wild.

J.T. Petty is writing and directing The Burrowers for Lions Gate Films, says Variety. The horror film set in the Wild West is described as Alien meets The Searchers, the 1956 John Wayne Western.

Yes. That's exactly what I thought. Odd way to pitch a film, but you can see that exact thing being said in the pitch interview with the execs. Coming Soon brings us the potted career history of Petty, and interesting to read it certainly is, showing further the blurring between games and cinema.

...third feature as a writer/director, following Soft for Digging, a Sundance cult horror film, and Mimic: Sentinel for Dimension.

He's also the writer of Tom Clancy's video game "Splinter Cell" and co-wrote the Splinter Cell feature script that Peter Berg is directing for Paramount.

The multihyphenate also just finished writing and directing the Batman Begins game for Electronic Arts and Warner Bros.
