Pitt and Aniston Films Delayed Because of Split?

The general movie going audience is a funny creature. Some of the most extreme things don't even make us blink... and some of the smallest things will make us flock to a theatre... or stay away from it.

Word has it that the split of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt is making studio execs nervous about how the public will respond at the box office. Teen Hollywood gives us this:

Warner Bros. announced Friday it was pulling Aniston's comedy "Rumor Has It" from mid-April to Dec. 21, the Boston Herald reported Saturday. While the romantic comedy inspired by "The Graduate," may have been delayed until the more lucrative Christmas movie season, the studio may also be delaying the movie's release fearing the divorce rumors may hurt Anniston at the box office, the Herald said.

"Mr. and Mrs. Smith," Pitt's action movie with Angelina Jolie, may also be delayed following media reports he may have had an affair with the twice-divorced Jolie -- a situation she has publicly denied.

This may not be a bad idea. Remember how hot Meg Ryan was? Then news gets out that she split from hubby Dennis Quaid, and BOOM!!! Even a half decent flick with Russell Crowe couldn't get an audience out and her career has been in the crapper ever since. So maybe it is a good idea to delay the releases until all the divorce buzz dies down a little. Your thoughts?

That stinks just a bit. I am kinda looking forward to Mr. & Mrs. Smith and I never look forward to a Brad Pitt or an Angelina Jolie flick.

See, that's the thing; PROOF OF LIFE was only 1/2 decent, which means it was also 1/2 crap. Her affair may have had some effect, but you can't polish a turd. She was ineffectual and unnecessary in PROOF OF LIFE. She was in decline anyway. Though YOU'VE GOT MAIL did OK it wasn't a huge hit like SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE nor was it critically hailed.

Besides, it's not like Aniston was the cause of any blockbusters. Sure, she was in BRUCE ALMIGHTY but she was far from the star pull there. A wooden pole would've done just as well because people were there to see Jim Carey be Jim Carey.

My 2 cents.

its sad that people lifes are so dull, that they even care about the split. it really scary that the studio think this is so!

Rumor Has It would probably bomb now because of this Brad/Jenn split -- also because it stars Kevin Costner.

Actually, I think Mr. and Mrs. Smith would do very well at the box office now. Audiences would be curious to see the movie that possibly led to the breakup.

Also, fact is, there is a double-standard in our society: The audience will forgive Brad more than Jennifer.

Finally, don't forget that Brad Pitt is more famous and successful at the box office than Aniston, whose success has mostly been based on a sitcom.

Uh-oh, I am sure it will not make any difference although Aniston will be the biggest loser here. I mean she has starred in other films but the success couldnt really be because of her but her co-stars, even Ben Stiller, a more bankable movie star didnt save "Along Came Polly", but of course it depends on the movie and not just the actors.

She is not what we can call a film actress just yet. Most of her film characters are reminiscent of her Rachel Greene character in FRIENDS. She has to break out of that first.

Brad Pitt, although not a better actor himself has got more box office appeal and clout having done more films.

As for the Pitt-Jolie movie with or without this split rumor, I am sure it will still do well, the trailer makes you ache to want to watch it now.

I'm not a big Jennifer Aniston fan but I'm curious to see if her movie career takes off like Nicole Kidman's did after her breakup with Tom Cruise. My image of Nicole was much like my image of Jennifer is right now but Nicole has definately proven to be quite an actress.

It's amazing how much politics comes into play when you have couples get together or break up in Hollywood. I say release the movies and let the actors stand or fall on their own.

I do enjoy Aniston, but she does need to pick some better roles. The Good Girl is my favorite of her films so far. She held her own and even though was a small film, it won an audience and the critics favor.

I am looking forward in seeing her in the movie Derailed.

I really never really cared about Hollywood couples but Jenn and Brad were the only couple that seemed real....So I really don't think i'll beable to watch Mr and Mrs smith..I think it will make me sick to see those two on screen with all the rumors.

Jen's career COULD take off because she has remained
so, well, GOOD! But on the other hand, maybe people
want to see some REAL feelings from her about her
marriage. That could really enhance interest in
her.

How could she ever agree to the script and love
scenes between her hubby and Angelina Jolie. I
picked up that Pitt talked Jolie into making the
movie with him. So he was the aggressor.

However, she is manipulating to the nth degree
to get control of him.
