Pictures released from A Scanner Darkly
Excellent quality pictures just released from A Scanner Darkly prove that there's a whole heap of style and talent poured into them. Just look at the face of Keanu in the first shot.
Not surprising since the movie has been shot live action with the animation crafted over the top, and it gives it such a unique quality, I can't wait to see some form of teaser from this. The blurb from IMDB covers the story:
Set in a future world where America has lost the war on drugs, undercover cop Fred (Keanu Reeves) is one of many agents hooked on the popular drug Substance D, which causes its users to develop split personalities. Fred, for instance, is also Bob, a notorious drug dealer.

As soon as I saw the pics, my first reaction was "This looks exactly like 'Waking Life'"... Sure enough imdb tells me that Richard Linklater (director of "A Scanner Darkly") was also the director for "Waking Life". I definitely recommend checking out "Waking Life" if you are interested in the visual style of "A Scanner Darkly". Although I personally disliked the actual content of the movie, the visual style is out of this world.

I liked Waking Life and I like P.K.D.
I will probably go check this out.
Although I cant help thinking it looks like the photoshop filter "cutout" too much.Kind of drab and leaves me scratching my head.Why animate this at all if you are just going to run the film through a photoshop effect?
Maybe its not all like that and they push it in weird ways .
