Dead or Alive movie casts Natassia Malthe as female fighter #1

Welcome Player One - Natassia Malthe, pray a moments silence for John to heavy breathe, has just been cast in the DOA movie (that's the Dead or Alive game series to you non-gamers out there). Coming Soon bring us the excellent news from Production Weekly:

The movie centers on four female fighters in a competition to the death on an exotic island.

...and another pause. Oh. My. God. I thought this kind of movie arrived hidden in a computer magazine shipped from an overseas distributor. What in the hell can they think to eek out from this in the way of a storyline? Surely IMDB gives us more on the movie? Oh yes, it does:

The big-screen adaptation of the fighting video game serial, which follows the adventures of an all-female kick-boxing squad.

Oh sweet lord. Well the game is all bouncing pixels, small costumes, high kicks and big falls so I guess the movie isn't going to be much different.

However, the good news is that Corey Yuen is directing, and he's a heavyweight in the martial arts movies arena, so that should make it interesting. Except...Oh no. The writer J.F. Lawton has some amazing credits to his name, Under Seige, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory and wait for it...oh yes, there is...Under Siege 3, and let's not forget Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death!

Ok, I am going to copy your own words here:

bouncing pixels, small costumes, high kicks and big falls

What more do you want in a movie?

DEAD OR ALIVE CREATOR AND PRODUCER TO DO SCRIPT SUPERVISING FOR THE DOA FILM.

Tomonobu Itagaki owner of Tecmo Team Ninja was not happy with the script.Itagaki and John Inada
will do the script supervising for the movie.
Dead OR Alive is in pre-production now and Tecmo
will work as script supervisors and
Paul WS Anderson should sign Itagaki and Inada for the script supervisor for DOA.
Natassia Malthe is starring in the film,
Holly Valance and Zhang Ziyi might or might not get sign up the film.
The film and the plot better be done right and the better stay true to the game.
Thank You.

When I first heard about this film I was pretty sure it would suck even with the best script writers in the world DOA is a fighting game with a very weak story (the main story seems to revolve around the Ninja's) I was wondering if the film is being made in CGI or real actress' how can you get any one in the world that looks like Tina or Kasumi? look at the bloodrayne movie and check Rayne CGI to Rayne actress they look nothing alike.

My personal opinion is that this film is a very bad move to Tecmo and Mr Itagaki there is a high chance it will flop like most game to movie conversions. but I guess we have to wiat and see.
