X-Men 3 or Wonder Woman. Which Will Joss do?

It's being peppered all over the web today that Buffy/Angel/Serenity creator Joss Whedon is not only in the running to be the next X-Men director, but that Warner Bros. is pursuing him to helm a new Wonder Woman project. Wow. This Joss with X-Men thing has been on and off a lot.

I have been waving Joss' banner for the X-Men ever since Bryan Singer jumped over to Superman. I think the man would be just perfect for it. However, and argument could be made that few directors in recent years have handled a female action protagonist as well as Joss has too. Either way I think we, the movie going audience will win... but I'm still hoping for him behind the camera on X3.

In related news, it appears that Minnie Driver (I've been in love with her ever since Grosse Pointe Blank) would love the chance to play Wonder Woman. The good folks over at Cinescape tell us:

she would love to play the DC Comics heroine. After all, it's been a childhood dream of Driver's since she watched Lynda Carter in the WONDER WOMAN TV series. "Come on, she's heaven, and she was so sexy," Driver told the site. "Even though I didn't have blue eyes, at a stretch I thought I could possibly grow up to be her, whereas I could never have grown up to be Lindsay Wagner [who played the Bionic Woman]. Do you know what I mean?"
Driver in that Wonder Woman outfit? Mmmmmmm... she can golden lasso me anytime.

According to the BBC she also said:

Minnie Driver thinks she'd be ideal for the role, assuming a certain bitter rival doesn't nab the skimpily clad Amazonian role first. "I think you're probably going to see Catherine Zeta-Jones squished into a corset and a pair of shorts quicker than you'd see me," she told SciFi Wire.

Whedon helming either of those films would be a fanboy's dream come true. But I'm growing weary of the "is he or isn't he" roller coaster ride in regards to X3.

I think that Jennifer Connelly is better for Wonder Woman, I love her.

I think he should stick with X-men. It's a much more sure bet and, besides, who cares about Wonder Woman? (ducks head to avoid retaliation)
