WETA Working on Effects For Ledgend Of Zorro

AntronioZorro.jpgHaving worked in a visual effects studio for a few years, I like posting about the industry every once in a while. The amazing shop known as WETA, the effects group that did the visuals for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is gearing up to make the magic for the upcoming flick Legend of Zorro starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Maybe in this one Antonio will be fighting a Balrog?

This association surprises me a little bit, only because I don't see Zorro being much of an effects film. I guess we'll just wait and see.

You know, I think they are being employed to make Banderas look young and thin enough to play the role.

I agree, John that it doesn't seem like an 'effects-heavy' film. Perhaps it will have an epic period look that goes beyond what they could do on-set?

Having never seen the first, the only thing that interests me would be WETA's involvement.

The association? Zorro is being directed by Martin Campbell, a New Zealand director hence the link with Weta. And I think from memory, his last film, Vertical Limit which was shot in New Zealand used some of the post-services of The Film Unit which is owned by Pete.
