Top 10 Cheesiest Lines In Film

In a survey of 2000 movie fans that was conducted by Warburtons to mark the launch of its new Cheese Flavour Crumpets, a definitive list of the Top 10 Cheesiest lines in movies was assembled. Hehe... I love these little lists. Here they are:

1. Titanic - "I'm the king of the world!" (Leonardo DiCaprio)

2. Dirty Dancing - "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." (Patrick Swayze)

3. Four Weddings and a Funeral - "Is is still raining..." (Andie MacDowell)

4. Ghost - "I love you." "Ditto." (Demi Moore)

5. Top Gun - "You can be my wingman any time." (Val Kilmer)

6. Notting Hill - "I'm just a girl..." (Julia Roberts)

7. Independence Day - "Today we celebrate our Independence Day." (Bill Pullman)

8. Braveheart - "They may take our lives..." (Mel Gibson)

9. Jerry Maguire - "You had me at hello." (Renee Zellweger)

10. The Postman - "You're a godsend, a saviour." "No, I'm a postman." (Kevin Costner)

Hahaha... I love it. So are there any other ones that you can think of that should be on there?

I am chuckling here actually. I like the list.

What about "All I could say was hello?" from "An Affair to Remember" and then later used again by Meg Ryan in "Sleepless in Seattle".

You can't forget the mantra for sci-fi geeks everywhere:

"I know Kung-fu."
(Keanu Reeves)

LOL.

Most obvious:

"You like pain? Try wearing a corset!"
from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Hmm... I only seem to be adept at remembering the good lines. :-)

A couple of my favorites, from Galaxy Quest (which is chock full of quotable lines):

"Is there AIR? You don't know!" and

"Did you guys ever WATCH the show?"

Vic

In Day after Tomorrow:

"I have to do this" "I know"

something like that. Laaaame.

i find the most cheesiest lines come from disaster movies. for instance twister:

bill paxton: "killing yourself wont bring your dad back!"

there's also speed:
sandra: "u didnt leave me"
keanu: "i didnt really have anywhere else to be at the time"

forest gump...next to the shining its gotta be my favorite movie ever but everybody knows the cheese line "run forest run!"

i shall return later with some more once i have a chance to sift through my memory banks.

:-)

"I dare not kiss so lovely a lady. I have but one heart to lose." (Richard Gere, First Knight)

Posted by: Darko at December 5, 2004 04:37 PM

well also for the "Sci-Fi fans" from Nataku....
there was the one

Keanu- "don't leave me"
Moss- "they need you"
Keanu- "i need you"

that one made me give a chuckle...ill think of more as well

Posted by: Kirch at December 5, 2004 07:36 PM

Well since we're on the subject of Keanu and Speed:

"Nobody panic. There is a bomb . . on the bus."

Posted by: iamNataku at December 5, 2004 09:22 PM

MOLD YOU CHEESE!

Posted by: Marla Singer at December 6, 2004 12:36 AM

"I feel the need...the need for speed!" (Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards as Maverick and Goose in Top Gun)

"Let's rock!" (Rob Lowe as Danny in St. Elmo's Fire -- right before he blows a phony solo on saxaphone)

Posted by: Chris Bertolet at December 6, 2004 06:54 PM

from X-Men:
Storm: "You know what happens when a toad is struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else."

Posted by: Ryan R at December 6, 2004 08:36 PM

How about, "Someone wake the President," from just about every Major Crisis movie ever filmed (Wargames, Executive Decision, etc.).

Posted by: Heffaloo at December 6, 2004 10:12 PM

"THATS MY BROTHER GOD DAMNIT"

Kurt Russell - Backdraft

Posted by: Pendragon at December 7, 2004 07:47 AM

From "Chronicles of Riddick"

"It's been a long time since I smelled beautiful."

Posted by: paccbet at December 7, 2004 09:07 AM

Field of Dreams

Ray Liota -"Is this heaven?"
Kevin Costner - "No, it's Iowa."

Posted by: vols at December 7, 2004 10:50 AM

Satisfaction

"Where are the dips?"
Justine Bateman: "They're all in the pool"

Ok so the whole movie was a cheesefest but that line always stood out with me!

Posted by: hotchocolate at December 7, 2004 01:41 PM

Better Off Dead

"There they go again... throwing away a perfectly good white boy."

Posted by: hotchocolate at December 7, 2004 01:43 PM

OK one more...

Broken Arrow

every line in this movie was a cheesefest... as you will see by this dialogue!

Hale: You're out of your mind.
Deakins: Yeah. Ain't it cool?
Hale: I'm serious, Deak, your mind has taken a walk off the map.
Deakins: Maybe. But I'm still gonna kick your ass.

I've got two. One is a moldy oldie "Love means never having to say you're sorry" from Love Story. #2 from XXX. "I told him that smoking was going to kill him one day"

Posted by: Kevin at December 7, 2004 04:57 PM

i've got a couple:
Pee-Wee movies "I know you are but what am I?"

Field of Dreams "If you build it, they will come."

Forrest Gump "I may not be a smart man, Jenny, but I know what love is." Actually, just about anything Forrest says could probably qualify. Sorry Forrest!

Posted by: Beth at December 7, 2004 05:53 PM

Most of these top ten lines are just over-quoted! They weren't cheesy the first time you heard them. I have to agree with Kevin, I think "Love means never having to say you're sorry." should be number 1!

Posted by: Heather at December 7, 2004 06:22 PM

hey, i dont agree with that forest gump, beth

Posted by: Marla Singer at December 8, 2004 01:37 AM

i dont think beth knows what "cheese" is

Posted by: Marla Singer at December 8, 2004 01:40 AM

I have to agree... Forrest Gump was supposed to sound dim witted -- which isn't the same as downright cheesy/corny

he had more of the mind of a child so his dialogue was very simple not cheesy.

Posted by: hotchocolate at December 8, 2004 07:53 PM

thank u hot chocolate for supporting forest gump :)

One of my wife's favorite movies is "While You Were Sleeping," and it has the single worst romantic line I've ever heard. At the very end, when Bill Pulman proposes to Sandra Bullock he replies:

"I love you back."

Posted by: Bald Man at December 9, 2004 08:23 AM

best cheese from "hard to kill".

"You can take that to the bank."
Seagal says, "I'm going to take you to the bank. The blood bank."

Team America

"I promise I will never DIE!"
