The Thomas Crown Affair 2

Sequels aren't usually things I get too excited about. Having said that, I thought the first Thomas Crown Affair was pretty darn entertaining. Add to that the fact that I still think Pierce Brosnan is an under utilized actor and the news of The Thomas Crown Affair 2 has me interested. Not excited... but at least interested. I just hope the get Rene Russo back too. Mmmmmmm... Reneeeeeeee. The lady is 50 years old and still hotter than most MTV whores. The good folks at Cinema Confidential give us this:

Variety reports that Pierce Brosnan and MGM are reviving "The Thomas Crown Affair" with a sequel titled "The Topkapi Affair." The sequel will draw on material from 1964's "Topkapi," an MGM pic about the theft of a jeweled dagger from an Istanbul museum. Harley Peyton will write the new screenplay. It will not follow that movie's storyline exactly but draw on elements from the original.
Sounds interesting. Keep your ear to the ground on this one.

Now, just to be pedantic, I take it we are talking about the first movie being the first sequel starring Brosnan?

Let's not forget the Steve McQueen original making this the third movie.

Technically the Brosnan version is a remake, but on Jonathon Ross' chat show the other week he did say himself that it was a sequel rather than a remake.

Come on I can’t wait for Thomas Crown 2. The guy was smooth, the chic was hot, the professionals were confused, and the cop was completely furious and eventually gave in. I am looking forward on the next one.
