Silent Hill screenwriters visit hideaway for second draft

silentHill.jpgI've mentioned Roger Avery's web journal before, and it does make interesting reading. His latest post talks of the move to the second draft of the script and the hideaway that's been hired for them.

I am about to depart for an undisclosed location, to begin my rewrite on "Silent Hill" with Christophe Gans...Samuel Hadida has rented a house in the hills where wayward filmmakers can come together to write and play videogames while being isolated from all the complications of daily life. I'm bringing my Xbox -- there had better be a giant display with more colors than the human eye can process when I arrive. For sure there's a pool -- probably a party -- definitely refreshments. With those necessary components in place we'll have a draft sometime early next week.

Now that does sound cool, what a life.

Quick turnaround on the script once again, and it seems slightly worrying for all those who are eager for a decent treatment, but he does assure us that he is a fan, and for such gaming references (including the comments about a huge projector at the hideaway and the taking of his XBox) it sounds very promising. Indeed, Avary seems like a big games fan, and coupled with his excellent writing credits, I would think this could have a good shot.

On a slight sidetrack, that led me to think of other famous movie bloggers, and so far I've tracked down three...well two, one's a stretch!

Jeff Bridges
Wil Wheaton
Jenna Jameson - Well, kinda in movies!

Can anyone think of more?

I like Roger Avary! I can't believe there's someone I like involved with this screenplay! I liked Rules of Attraction but I'm not sure if it was because Avary or the combination of Kate Bosworth, Jessica Biel and Shannyn Sossamon.

His website is pretty cool. He talks alot about his work Quentin Taratino in his FAQ and it's pretty obvious that he's a gamer.

I can't wait until silent hill goes to the big screen. I am a big fan of the game and I am excited to see how it turns out. My suggestion probably wouldn't matter but just in case, if they wanted to film the movie in a good location, Hanford, California in the winter time would be it. It's covered in thick fog all day with the exception of a few hours, and though there are modern stores and homes it's primarily surrounded by farm land. Looks pretty neat.
