The Weinsteins On Their Way Out At Disney

Oh the internal mess that is Disney. Is it just me or does the chaos over at the Mouse House seem to get worse every time I look? The Legacy of Disney Chairman Michael Eisner is getting more and more stained with every bone head decision and personal vendetta. The IMDB is now reporting that the tension between Eisner and Harvey and Bob Weinstein is reaching a fever pitch with Eisner making a move to have the Weinsteins thrown out from Miramax (which is controlled by Disney) and the Weinsteins (knowing that Eisner is in the bad books with a lot of the Disney Board) going right to the Board of directors to try to get them to overrule Eisner:

Variety quoted a Miramax spokesman as saying, "Bob and Harvey hope for an amicable resolution that will allow them to continue to be productive members of the Disney family." Tensions between the Weinsteins and Eisner have reportedly grown rigid over the years, reaching their current condition earlier this year when Disney refused to distribute Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11.
What a total mess. Disney really needs to get it's house in order if they want to avoid total collapse. Umm... side note to the Board of Disney: GET RID OF EISNER NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Is Eisner relative with the Bushs?

I attended a seminar this week led by two consultants that have spent years researching the "Disney Way," and they spent a few minutes talking about what Disney needs to do to "restore the magic." While they didn't come down on either side, (Roy Disney & the Board vs. Eisner), they did read a letter from Roy Disney that stated that he didn't feel like he could continue on at Disney and that the organization did not foster creativity the way that it did when Walt was there. The funny thing was that the letter was written in the 1970s.

Undeniably, something needs to be done to turn the tide at Disney.
