Kevin Smith and Star Wars?

KevinSmith3.jpgOk, while we're on the topic of Star Wars, how about this one. Movie Hole (among other places) is reporting that George Lucas has something up his sleeve for Star Wars after Episode III has it's run in the theaters. Now, we've talked recently about the rumoured Star Wars TV serise... but it COULD be more than that. It might be more movies (Lucas denies there will be more Star Wars films... but then again he also once said there would never be another Indiana Jones movie too), a mini-series perhaps? But whatever it is... it smells like Kevin Smith may be involved with it. Here's what they had to say:

A few weeks back a rumour surfaced that king-daddy of the fart joke movie, Kevin Smith, was going to be in charge of such a series. And funnily enough, he hasn't debunked the news yet either which makes one think there's something in this www whisper after all.

In a new interview with About.com, the "Clerks" alumni kept mum on the subject but apparently offered a telling smile.

Inerviewer: What about the rumors of your involvement in a “Star Wars” TV series?
Smith: I read those as well. It’s so weird, isn’t it? I thought it was weird.

Interviewer: You’re not going to do it? Or you’re not going to talk about?
Smith: (Smiling) I’ve got nothing to say, really.

Interviewer: Would it interest you?
Smith: Sure. Who wouldn’t want to run a “Star Wars” TV show?

I think this would be a great idea. It's well known that Kevin is a huge Star Wars nut, and a damn talented one too. I'd be up for anything he'd be involved in... not that anyone asked my opinion... which they should. :)

Ive read that rumour afew places as well. I also think that Kevin whould be "maybe" the best pick for director when it comes to sci-fi or comics-to-movie.

This is a fantastic idea. Kevin Smith is one of the greatest frauds to ever hit Hollywood. He has zero talent and has never made a single good movie.

While the initial hype about him has died down over the years as his movies and projects have continually failed to impress anyone, he still hasn't received the boot out of Hollywood that he truly deserves.

However, once he gets his hands on the Star Wars television series and no doubt completely MANGLES it, he will have finally committed an egregious enough sin to be banished for life.

I've liked all, well most of Smith's films. He's a Huge Starwars fan and I think he would make the Starwars that fans want to see.
