Johnny Depp Doing Something Cool... Imagine That
You just gotta respect Johnny Depp. The guy is a huge talent, carries a style unmatched by most, and honestly carries a swagger that almost resembles humility more than arrogance. Very rare. Word running through the web is that Depp has decided to produce and star in a new project called Shantaram. Coming Soon describes the project this way:
Depp would play the novel's narrator, a young Australian man who escapes from a prison Down Under and goes on to build a new life for himself in the slums of India before going to fight with insurgents in their struggle against the Russians in Afghanistan.Ok, to me this sounds like a great idea. I have no idea how Depp finds the time. He's already working on Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Corpse Bride and a couple of others. The man must like his work.

Famous actors have tremendous exposure and, at times, great influence because of their chosen profession. Perhaps it is that that bothers you and others like you when it comes to actors expressing opinions that may be contrary to yours. But acting, no matter how glamourous and potentially lucrative it can be is still a chosen profession OF A HUMAN BEING which means those HUMAN BEINGS have the right just like HUMAN BEINGS IN OTHER JOB PROFESSIONS to express their opinion. He's an American (although living in France)who pays his taxes. That gives him the right to voice his friggin' opinion just like everyone else.

He has every right to voice his opinions whatever his profession, anyway it wasn't that long ago that the US had a b-movie actor as President. Everyone has the right to express their views, being famous gives him a bigger platform, but he also has plenty to lose if people dislike his viewpoint.
And as an actor, he's hard to beat.

its doesnt matter what people say about america its if you love america dont go trashing it that was johnny depp's words and is feelings but that doesnt mean you should hate him for that because people have a different point of view and johnny depp a least came out and said it america does sometimes suck but no one should hate any one here thats why america sucks because all of the crime and stuff

Johnny depp is an extremely gorgeous, feminine ( a great quality!) guy with great talent. The guys who hate him are just damn jealous, and you know it! and the girls who hate him, either have extremely bad taste in guys or are just in denial because they cant have him!! just accept it, you losers! I think hes great in lots of aspects. Just appreciate that. And not everybody is perfect, although I bet he'a a lot more moral and interesting than a lot of you people on here that just want to bad-mouth him! hes doing brilliant for a 42 year old guy! hes got the looks, the talent, a family, great job....good for him! And he's best friends with tim burton, the best director around. so he has very good taste himself, in friends, film roles....and clothes !!!

I've been a fan of Johnny Depp since 21 Jump Street, but his recent anti-American statements have really ticked me off. I'll agree that he is one of the greatest actors working today, but I wish that actors would just act and keep the political commentary to themselves.
