Burt Reynolds joins Dukes of Hazzard

Also check out Rotten Tomatoes Dukes of Hazzard or FilmForce Dukes of Hazzard

BurtReynolds.jpgNews from Empire is that the great (but slightly strange looking) Burt Reynolds is to play Boss Hogg, the baddie of the show, albeit an inept one.

He joins the illustrious cast of Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson as Bo, Luke and Daisy Duke. Also signed up is Willie Nelson as the old Granda Uncle Jesse.

I can't believe that out of the posts over the last few days there are so many remakes of old shows, and not very good shows at that. Oh yeah, Dukes was fun when we were kids, but not now. What could they possibly do that could make this movie a go see movie, apart from dress it up as a kiddie flick?

Then what of Burt Reynolds? He's turned in a few excellent performances in his later years, and he decides to do this? One can only hope the money is good. Wasn't Boogie Nights his big return and a turning back to more serious roles? I think this is a poor choice for him.

Are these really the right choices for the roles, and should these series even be resurrected?

Ok Hollywood, QUIT REMAKING THESE TV SERIES!

Miami Vice!? Dukes of Hazard!? Starsky and Hutch!? DALLAS!? The A-Team!? Please make it stop! Don't get me wrong, At the time they were great, but you can't capture the soul of these shows in an hour and 20 minutes. The only reason Starsky and Hutch had a decent box office is because of Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson's names.

I know, if they aren't remaking Telly, they're remaking foreign films...or even their own films again (search for Revenge of the Nerds!).

ORIGINAL IDEAS GUYS!

Remember when Hollywood was churning out amazing films left and right in the late 1970s and most of the 1980s that were, for the most part, based on original ideas? For me, those were the days, probably because I was 7 in 1980. Well, I read the other day that a popular film from the 1980s is being remade already! For the life of me, I can't remember which one, but I was totally shocked!

It's official - Hollywood has run out of original ideas.

It seems like the movies being remade are getting newer and newer every year. I hear next year they're going to remake Lord of the Rings.

Well just looking at the cast members, they are pretty much going to make a mockery of a fine TV series. COME ON, Jessica "I'm and idiot" Simpson and Daisy, that is a BIG, HUGE insult. And what, does Willy Nelson have to gain about 200lbs, since he is like 95lbs normally... As must as I like Seann, he is no Bo Duke, and Johnny he couldn't act if someone else did it for him!! Whomever is directing this movie must be on crack!

OKAY, I'm sure this movie will NOT be as good as the original, They never are. They do need to stop doing remakes, but we might as well give the movie a chance. Simpson, for some really "air headed" reason just does not fit the part. But Seann and Knoxville should do just FINE. I like Seann alot and I'm a BIG fan of knoxville, everyone always seems to refer to him as the guy from Jackass, well that may be one part of his career ... yes a rather big one, but he is an ACTOR .... and I respect him greatly. I also feel Reynolds will add the perfect atmosphere for a decent movie. *-Just try to think about the positives .... its the least we can do-*

It's really too bad their making this movie because all they're going to do is poke fun at the original series. Starsky and Hutch is an example of this. The people who never saw the original show loved the movie, thought it was hysterical. But too the fans it was really just a mockery of something that never took itself too seriously, and didn't need an insult added to injury.
