Arsenio Hall to Direct Black Comedy Documentary

ArsenioHall.jpgIt seems like everyone these days wants to do a documentary film since Bowling for Columbine. The latest celebrity to join the ranks? Arsenio Hall. The movie will look at the comedy circuit of young up and coming black comedians and their lives away from the stage. I actually think this looks pretty interesting and a guy like Hall would probably have a good perspective on the subject matter. Personally, I'd still rather see a film like this NOT be exclusively about any one race group be it black, white, asian or whatever. I'm a little surprised that Hall is doing this... what with the huge ratings Star Seach was getting and all :P

I thinks he's making it about black comedians not to alienate other races but just to show what this particular group has to go through on the comedy circuit. It's a territory that he's familiar with. I'm sure every group goes through some very different things as far as expectation of material, etc. The film will feature other races but not specifically focus on them.

This isnt about one race it is about comedy. If it was someone like Billy Crystal doing something like this and there were no black actors, no one would have said anything about race. This is just comedy, not black, white or asian. It just so happens that he is black.

Actually it specifically and intentionally IS about black comedians... exclusivly.

But, a friend of mine convinced me this isn't a bad idea. So there you go.

I love Arsenio Hall! Maybe he can host the next Oscars?
