Wicker Park Reviews

And the award for most wasted potential goes to... Josh Hartnett. Starring in the new Wicker Park, Hartnett looked like he was heading in the right direction following Pearl Harbor, a film in which he was the only real bright spot. But then came the abysmal 40 Days and 40 Nights, followed by the even worse Hollywood Homicide. Now the critics are generally giving the thumbs down to this new offering as well. Here's what they're saying:

"To work, it has to make us feel crazy with love, like Vertigo did. Instead, it often just makes us feel crazy for believing any of it."
-- Michael Wilmington, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

"Its mood swings jump from erotic thriller to wistful romance, and its final explanatory moments play like a weak comic farce."
-- Philip Wuntch, DALLAS MORNING NEWS

"It stars Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger, two excruciatingly lightweight actors with zero chemistry."
-- Steve Rhodes, STEVE RHODES' INTERNET REVIEWS

"Sums up everything that's wrong with American remakes of foreign films: it's dumbed down so far, it's just plain dumb."
-- Jamie Russell, BBC

It could have been great, sexy people in the cast, but basically it was a boring movie about nothing interesting and a complete waste of 2 hours.
