Cellular Reviews

Remember back in the day when Kim Basinger was THE actress? Everything she touched was as hot as my ass (what can I say, I have a really nice ass. Oh wait.... that's someone else's ass I'm thinking of. Never mind). She even picked up an Oscar for her work in L.A. Confidential.

But lately she's been invisible (and making movies like Bless the Child didn't help matters much). So here she is again in Cellular. The synopsis for the film reads like this: A random wrong number on his cell phone sends a young man into a high-stakes race against time to save a woman’s life. Doesn't sound like it has much place to go does it? Well, the critics are starting to chime in, and it doesn't look good... at all.

"What the film doesn't achieve is any real tension since a viewer is more caught up in how the movie is going to sustain the cell phone gimmick than in what happens to the hapless family."
- Kirk Honeycutt of Hollywood Reporter

"...has all the earmarks of a genuinely smart thriller rewritten by a studio-lapdog script doctor who was told it didn't have enough car chases and comic relief."
- Rob Blackwelder of SPLICEDWire

"A tepid recycling of old film noir chestnuts."
- Robert Koehler of Variety

But let's be honest here folks... after seeing the trailer did anyone really think this was going to be any good?
