Taxi – Who on earth thought this was a good idea?

Does one really need to see anything else in a trailer or poster for a movie that includes the phrase "Starring Jimmy Fallon" to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is going to be one of the GREATEST motion pictures of our, or any other time in the history of movies... verilly... the history of mankind itself? Taxi just oozes QUALITY in the tradition of the theatre arts. Ok, enough of the crap.

Who on earth is making a zillion dollars a year to make decisions that results in a movie like this getting made?!?! 2 things on this planet confuse me. 1) Women. 2) The decision making process used by some studios in decideing what movies get made and which ones don't. I know I haven't seen it yet... but COME ON! Jimmy Fallon?!?! And what on earth is Queen Latifah thinking? She starts building a semi-respectable acting reputation... then even gets an Oscar nomination... and then she thinks to herself "Hey! You know what would be a really good career move for me right now? I'll play a hip-hop speedster sissta drag racing taxi driving chick in a heist movie with Jimmy Fallon! Yeah! That'll be awesome! Academy gold here I come!".

Maybe I'm being unduly unfair to a movie I haven't even seen yet... but come on... tell me I'm wrong. If you wanna subject yourself to the Taxi trailer, you can go here, but I can't imagine why.

This is actually a remake of a french film - produced by Luc Besson, I think - that's supposed to be a good bit of disposable fun. Enough so that it's spawned a little franchise over there. This version, though, looks like ass.

Wasn't this movie originally based on the video game Crazy Taxi but something didn't clear with the rights, so it underwent a name change to just Taxi? Serious question.

Nope. The film this is based on came out before the video game. Here's the Amazon UK page for the original, complete with synopsis and user reviews ...

Zowie. I just went and checked Besson's credits on the IMDB and the man is producing SIXTEEN films currently coming down the pipe! That's insane! How does the man have time to breathe?

the original french movie was great. but this looks pretty bad. (it think the french made another 2 sequals too).

I have the dvd for the original version of TAXI, fron Luc Besson Starring Sami Naseri, a very good movie with some nice car chases and the obvious french humor, when I saw the trailor for this rehached american peace of garbage version my jaw dropped.I can't understand why they make these american versions of french films are they running out of ideas.

Luc Besson has the time to breathe because he is FREAKING AWESOME!!! (and probably a *little* insane.)

Seriously, though; I love that man.

"...I know I haven't seen it yet" and Bubba writes "looks like ass but forgot to write "I know I haven't seen it yet" This is the first site that I've found of reviews of film trailers but it reads like ass.
