Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg To Appear in New Romero Zombie Film!
Thanks to the keen eye of regular reader Kelly Shaw I came across this article on Fangoria tipping us to the fact that Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg of Shaun of the Dead have just had full body casts done as preperation for the duo to appear as zombies in George Romero's upcoming Land of the Dead. How cool is that? A couple largely unknown guys from the UK make what is essentially a love letter to Romero's films and the man himself responds by giving them a spot in the new one. Sweet. Current rumors have Dennis Hopper joing the Land of the Dead cast and it has just been confirmed that the film will shoot here in Toronto which makes us pretty much the zombie film capital of the world with Dawn of the Dead, the second Resident Evil film and now Land of the Dead all filming here in the past couple years. Rest assured that we'll try and weasel our way onto the set once shooting starts ...

Awesome! They must be so chuffed! They deserve it! That must be so great, going from making multiple genre references in your 'sitcom', to starring in one of the masters' most long awaited movies!
It's so amazing that Romero's Land of the Dead is actually happening. It always seemed like it would never happen.

I can confirm the above, having been lucky enough to attend a special Shaun of the Dead screening last night at the Prince Charles Theatre in Leicester Square, London. The showing was, what I believe to be the first, live commentary during a movie. It was hilarious, with Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright, Nick Frost and Lucy Davis, in attendance. During a Q&A; Simon Pegg told us that he had been cast as Bub, the sympathetic zombie from `Day'. I don't know how accurate that info was though. (Hey, it was a free bar!)
One cool thing that I remember from the discussions was that Sam Raimi sent Edgar Wright an Evil Dead 2 poster with an autograph that said something like "To the new master of horror comedy!" EW and SP were genuinely excited at telling this, without a hint of conceit.
I met the three guys at a signing today and they are a thoroughly friendly bunch of people!

shaun of the dead is the coolest movie ever ive remembered it word for word my fav scene is the electro playing
