Because There Isn't Already Enough Incredible Anime Releasing This Year ...

placepromised.jpgOkay, I've got to throw a little disclaimer in here and say that, much to my chagrin, I have not yet seen Makoto Shinkai's Voices of a Distant Star. I know, I know. I suck. I can say, however, that everyone I know who's seen it absolutely adores it and thus are more than a little excited about Shinkai's new film, The Place Promised In Our Early Days, due to release later this year. And if the trailers are anything to go by they should be. Check 'em out here. Thanks to Opus for the link.

Shinkai's work is amazing. If you haven't, check out Voices of a Distant Star and the short on the DVD, She and Her Cat.

"Other Voices",Or The Place promised in our early days,"Kumo no Mukou,Yakuso Kuno Basho" A 91 min OVA is due out this month Feb-17-2005. And may have the same sad story line of "Distance Star". Between friends seperated or left behind. And again his soft focus in the anime.
