Saw

So what happens to Actors who just fall out of the spotlight long enough for you to forget them?

Remember Cary Elwes? Sure you do. Princess Bride. Maybe you think of the other guy in Twister? But what has he done recently? Lots actually, but you probably still forgot him.

Monica Potter? Yup, Patch Adams, Along came a Spider and a forgettable Freddy Prinze Jr movie. It's ok.

Danny Glover? Oh of course you know the Lethal Weapon movies. All four. But since then? Yeah. He has been busy too.

So what happens to them? They get them all in a room together and make a movie called Saw. We mentioned it a while ago in THIS post. Its quite an upsetting concept.

As far as the "whackjob torturing people for his own sick pleasure" format of thrillers goes, this is by far the most disturbing treatment. Well that and the producers of Battlefield Earth.

So you have two people in a room, and one has a device on her head that will tear it in two if she doesnt retrieve the key out of her new roomate's stomach?

I just shudder at the thought of it.

Go see the trailer at the HERE. I know we already posted this, but I am cruel and want you all to suffer the nightmares that this has inspired in my life.

That and I like all those actors you forgot. So just go see it, so the movie will be successful and they will be in more movies.

I can't seem to find the "R Rated" trailer out there, but then again I'm at work and can only spend a few minutes here in the morning perusing my favorite movie site, HERE.....I had seen the "director's cut, unedited" trailer about a month ago and have it saved on my laptop (not here at work, he he he)

Even the non-explicit trailer is creepy....Yikes, count me IN for sure....

If you got on AICN...and put in SAW under their search engine.....you will find the link your looking for....I have seen two trailers for this....the one with the girl from the poster and the one with the fat guy.....I got the buzz for this thriller like I did with Seven....which Hollywood doesn't give out that often any more.....sad to say....you only get the 1st JOLT of a Great Thriller once...even if you watch it again...it's not the same. You would think that Hollywood would be interested in making great thrillers...

Speaking of Thrillers.....Is it just me or do you have a pissed off feeling about M.Night's new flick.....The Village?.......I don't know if its the Sci Fi Scam or the Trailers or just him.....my feeling is this......I think the SUPRISE ending in his movie will be forced....probably something like....there are no "Creatures" in the woods outside the village....just a bunch of white people that for some reason ....don't want the Village people to venture out into the real world or some sort of experement....Blah,Blah,Blah......Personally...I think M. Night thinks we are stupid...I don't know why....just a gut....Anyone else feel like me?

Jason,

Yeah "Seven" was a JOLT for sure....What a great movie....Very creepy....

As angry as I was about the ending of the movie I don't think they could have ended it ANY OTHER WAY....

You are right, not many Hollywood movies give me that "buzz" anymore....Nothing scares me in the theatres....I was looking forward to Exorcist: The Beginning but not sure....All the issues with the prequel have me worried....

The last one that I remember leaving an impression was Exorcist III back in 1990(or 91?)....Pretty creepy, even if it WAS basically a flop that noone saw....Too bad Exorcist 2 turned people off to the franchise for a time...The 2nd one was awful...

I like being scared....I'm stoked about Shaun of the Dead as well...LOVE them zombie movies....

How the hell did I get here from there? Oh well...It's TheMovieBlog...Guess I'm ranting -er, BLOGGING...Yeah that's it...

I still want to see "The Village"....I hated Sixth Sense and absolutely LOATHED "Unbearable"

Posted by: dmiller23462 at July 22, 2004 10:38 AM

but gave "Signs" a chance and was pleasantly surprised....

Here's to hoping Village will kick ass....

I take that back...I was very scared when I saw "Showgirls".....but for other reasons. I will tell you this....I bet when the exorcist comes out on DVD with both versions......Most movie goers will like the 1st version better that the Die Hard 2...Runny Harloquin version....yet again.....we, the movie public knowing the better movie more than the people paid to green lite em.......mark my words!

Posted by: jason at July 22, 2004 12:11 PM

I dunno man....I might watch the Paul Schrader version FIRST before watching Renny Harlin's....I already know what I'm getting into with Renny Harlin....I like his movies but in a very basic "guy" way....Not much thinking going on in them....I'm definitely happy that there's a possibility of seeing "the other" version....I'm all over it...

Yea...I agree with you. But Movies with Brains don't sell tickets in the minds of studio Ex's....ya know?

Posted by: jason at July 22, 2004 06:10 PM

yep....that's unfortunate for us movie geeks....i really DO enjoy a mindless adrenaline-rush for 2 hours though....after all, i'm a GUY...he he he he...

Mindless is fine.....retarded is something else. Example: Mindless Comedy:

Good Mindless:"Better Off Dead"
Bad Mindless:"Meatballs 2"

Mindless Action:

Good:"Rocky 4" or "Over The Top"
Bad:"Missiing In Action 2 or 3"

There is a fine line in the Popcorn Flick.....hard to walk....east to fall over.

The movie SAW on the whole was good, but a couple parts pissed me off, they could of had the guy at a couple of points, all you gotta do is shoot the jerkoff in his knee, demobilize him.... he aint going nowhere!!! but the ideas of how he killed the people were cool and it had a good plot I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

The website for Saw is www.howfuckedup.net its a pretty horrific website and it messes with you so be patient if you do want to play his game.

i would have to rate Saw the best suspense film of all time, i mean the ideas and graphics are awesome but those two main actors were pitiful that is what ruined the movie for me..
