Police Academy 8 is Happening to your Life. Oh Yes it is.

Okay, I'll have to fill this in once I get more info because I forgot to clip the newspaper article while I was on the subway yesterday. However, there it was in black n white: The announcment of the 8th Police Academy film. Unreal. This is new territory for a film I think - I mean, let's make a time line: in order you've got your:

Fresh Ideas >> Compounded and used but still done well ideas >> Stale, "done" Ideas >> Old Ideas >> Waste of Money to Produce >> Idiots who think things are still cool when they're not >> Dead and every body knows it >> The Scary Movie Franchise >> Everyone's forgotten about it because the last movie was a decade ago and we only use the frachise for jokes now. >> Good nostalgic ideas >> Bad nostalgic ideas >> Wha?.. What's that? >> [Enter new Timeline candidate here]

It had fallen from my capabilities of logic and reason that they would make another one. But still, here it is. the article went on the say they were looking to bring on Old and New cast members. Mind you, Steve Guttenberg will finally have something to do.

Oh, I'll probably see this. Just for the record.
Oh Look! An Online Article!!

Now...let me get this straight.....make another Police Academy film.....I think the last one went directly to video(probably only available on VHS)....and not one actor from those movies are making a living as an actor....well....the "Sex In The City" girl gets work.....but I don't think she could carry a movie.....I would of liked to be in the room where this trash got green lighted....some people have more money than brains.....wanna bet someone says about 3 months after this junk is released..."It did very well over sea's?"

I LOVE Police Academy!!!!

Bring it on! I'm one of those people that watches Police Academy 2 or 3 when it is inevitably aired every couple of months or so as a TBS Saturday Morning Movie.

OK.....I have the original on DVD.....2 is ok....3 is chessy fun......but 4 to 7...and 8 all suck....they dont even get played on TV.....Cheesy is fun,Im all about the cheese....but making a sequel to 1/2 star picture is why Cannon Picutres went out of business......

Jason, just a tip. "...and 8" can't suck yet. It isnt out. Did you READ the article?

That being said, I am not hopeful about this movie. Its likely to go direct to video like its 5 older syblings.

Any idea of who is in it? It wasn't the same without Guttenberg and everyone wants "Jones - the noise guy"

I can't wait. What has anybody got to loose. I hope they go for Part 9 and 10 afterwards too. They are so stupidly fun. The best break away from a serious film. I'm watching this series like a soap now and hope all the same characters return. Come on, if they made 344 episodes of "Knots Landing", they can make at least 10 episodes of "Police Academy".

Actually Rodney,
Only Police Academy 7 went straight to video in 1994 ... How do I know this? Well...

I saw Part 6 in the theatre - that's why. Yes, I admitted it. Shut up.

Rodney......if I am smart enough to be reading somethign on the movieblog....then you can assume I know that 8 isn't out yet........I am playin the odd's......they will give it to a shit....no name director....he will make a shit...none memorable movie and it will end up in the $5.88 bin at wal mart....heck, rodney....I will buy it for you.

1-3 were pretty funny.
1 is a pretty great frat-style film with the cop twist.
Bobcat was funny in 2 & 3.

My uncle is the producer of the movies, and yes he had said that they went to long, but i do think people of now a days will go pay 8 dollars to see a classic and hope that they will get it right. I have seen some of the prodution notes and it looks good, but again hes my uncle. But to say i have all of them on DVD and yes i do watch them often. All and all give them a chance....

The Police Academy films are my absolute favourite in the world, and I do say that proudly. I hope hope that number 8 comes out soon. I would be first in line to watch it! I would love to hear any more news, so make sure someone lets me know! Wow, this just made my night!
