As much as I am a HUGE Smallville fan, I don't want to see Tom Welling in the new Superman movie. Sure he IS Superman but it would make the movie into a Smallville movie.

Not that it would be a bad thing but Tom Welling wouldnt be able to return to Smallville so this would have to be the benchmark that ends the Smallville portion of Clark Kent's life and has him move to Metropolis and start on being Superman.

The ONLY way it would work is if Smallville is over and the Superman TV series continued.

I still vote for Nick Cage.

They need to hold off on the movie for another 4 or 5 years. Let smallville make it's run... I'd be ready to see Tom jump into the role of a older Superman. All the other rumored actors just don't fit the glove.

I think that Tom Welling should be superman in the fifth superman movie. He is a great superman. I don't approve of the idea of Nicholas Cage being superman, it just looks wrong. But Beyounce could be a great Louis Lane.

I also think that Tom Welling deseves the part of superman might as well he has been playing Clark Kent for almost 4 years now. The only problem is that he refuses to be Superman and i vote for Tom Welling only. The other guys just don't fit I can only see Tom Welling. Until they can get him no Superman movie!!! Tom Welling is perfect for the topic of superman. For one he is superman!!!! Plus thousands of people refer to him as superman. When they watch movies like Cheaper by the Dozen they say hey that is superman. If they see someone who isn't him playing superman they might become ill. For my sake i hope he is superman. He is Hot and we can not deny that he has the abs to fill the suit. LOL!

I believe theyre rushing into ALOT witht his movie. They just want to get it out. For now, there is TOO MUCH Superman. I think they should wait till Smallville ends, and THEN make the final episode of the series a bride to the movie. Even if its not with Tom Welling. They should wait for the audiences and fans not to get confused, cuz right now, theres too much Superman going on.

I tend to agree with you Johnny that there is a lot of Superman going on right now... but the reality is that makes it the perfect time to do the film (from a marketing point of view).

Interest in Superman is higher right now that it has been in a long time... which makes it the logical time to strike while the iron is hot. Yes, it may cause SOME confussion, but not much.

Personally... I'd like to see them wait another 2 or 3 year before launching the project... but I can't argue that from a money and marketing perspective, now is the time.

This Brandon fellow might be attractive, but he ain't no Superman. And he can't compete with his predecessors, Dean Kain, Tom Welling or Christopher Reeve...hells no! Tom Welling should play Superman for the upcoming movie. He fits the part and he has been Superman for four years. Christopher Reeve will always be Superman and we watched him, in away, pass the torch to Tom. Studio executes....one Superman per decade please!!! I feel the movie will be great, but this will be like that old James Bond movie (that no one cares to remember) where the torch was passed to Timothy Dalton instead of Pierce Bronson. I believe they could get Bill Brewer to play superman. He has a great body for the part. Maybe they could throw in a sidekick like superlad, starring Matt Clark, these two love each other. Its only fitting they be in a movie together.
