The-Silence-Of-The-Lambs

A chilling news has been doing rounds which has caught the attention of movie buffs and fans globally- the house that was featured in one of the most classic thrillers of all times is now on sale and apparently cannot find a buyer. The famous lair that was used in the movie “The Silence of the Lambs” is up for sale but no one has the guts to come forward and buy it which is why the price is being slashed. The Silence of the Lambs released 15 years ago but the movie can still send chills down the spine no matter how many times you watch it.

The Silence of the Lambs gathered a cult following post its release and is based on a book by the same name by Thomas Harris. The movie stars Jodie Foster as FBI trainee Clarice Starling and Anthony Hopkins portraying the role of one of the most notorious criminals- Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The movie was ahead of its time as it brought to light the minds of psychopaths and took up heinous crimes as cannibalism. Hannibal Lecter as a character has become one of the most feared and talked about criminals not just in prose and storytelling but in the television world as well. The movie also takes up social issues such as gender identity as the main villain Buffalo Bill is a man battling emotional traumas causing him to hate himself and his identity. He’s trying to fashion himself to be a woman which in itself is quite a disturbing thought.

The movie surely isn’t for the faint hearted. All three characters- Lecter, Buffalo Bill and Clarice Starling have horrors from their past they’re trying to battle and each character has a story to tell. The movie went on to win the Oscar for Best Movie and Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for Best Actor even though his screen time was the least. This in itself defines just how gripping Hopkins portrayal of Lecter was. The movie surely has a knack of playing with your psychology and if it feels too heavy, go in for bookmyshow coupons to change your mood and have an enjoyable time with friends and family after watching the gruelling tale of The Silence of the Lambs.

silence2Since the release of the movie, more plots and movies surfaced around the life of Dr. Hannibal Lecter who was surely the break out character in the movie. He went on to reprise the role in Red Dragon as well as Hannibal, both movies which explore the character of Hannibal in further depth. The character of Hannibal has intrigued fans and psychiatrists the world over so much so that there is now a television show based on the brilliant personality that is Hannibal who just happens to be a cannibal.

The movie is a treat for those who love psychological dramas and thrillers the world over. Hannibal Lecter is an enigma whose entire personality is a juxtaposition of sorts: a world renowned psychiatrist who indulges in the social arts and yet demeans himself to something as raw as cannibalism. The murder house on sale is the same house where Buffalo Bill kept his victims in a well before going in for the kill. Although the property generates a lot of interest, it’s not being able to generate a solid lead.
