Ghostbusters reboot is the most disliked film trailer in YouTube history

This news should only be slightly surprising for those who have been following the saga of the development of a new Ghostbusters movie. The trailer is being positioned as simply being ‘confusing’ to viewers and even the cast. It’s being reported on EW that actress Melissa McCarthy also found the trailer confusing because of the forgettable “30 Years” tagline:

The radio hosts pointed out that the “30 years ago” exposition might lead viewers to believe that this team of Ghostbusters were a continuation or franchise expansion of the first one, but in fact it’s an all-new start. McCarthy said she’s well-aware of the confusion and had raised that point herself.

“Believe me, the question was asked. I was like, ‘I think that’s very confusing,’ but then everyone said, ‘We don’t care what you think,’” McCarthy said.

Wow. It’s a little early to be positioning yourself in opposition of the studio putting out the film and one has to wonder if she’s purposely attempting to distance herself from the folks in charge but either way it’s not a good sign when your stars express any negative press toward an upcoming release.

I don’t think anyone believes that I’m holding any actual excitement or interest in this movie but it is what it is. Sorry folks, Ghostbusters is still happening and now the studios are in full ‘damage control’ mode due to the negative reception. Who would have thought people wouldn’t appreciate a reboot rather than a sequel?
