Trailer: Tom Hanks in Clint Eastwood’s “Sully”

Clint Eastwood has little trouble casting A-List stars in his films and Sully is no different with academy award winner Tom Hanks front and center in the film. Today we get our first look at what’s in store:

On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

As a New Yorker, this is required viewing. The decision is already made. I love movies like this and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this is all dramatized to make a narrative.

Tom Hanks has little else in the tank but to offer films like this. He’s clearly not going back to comedy any time soon and the well seems to be running low on what viewers are interested in seeing him in. Hopefully this movie is the adrenaline shot we all need. We’ll see…
