The first actual teaser trailer for the film that will be released later this year was released into the wild yesterday. I finally crawled from under my rock and watched.

Observations:

• Forest Whitaker seems like he belongs in this movie.
• They know Kung Fu! I feel like I’m finally seeing the Samurai Western that everyone has been telling me this series is based on!
• Is there a chance for a Darth Vader appearance? It seems so.
• It’s jarring to see a story based in the old trilogy. I’m all about The Force Awakens and beyond so this time shift is a little weird.
• Overall I think it’s a great first look! Clearly JJ isn’t the only person who can make a competent Star Wars film these days.
