Robert Downey Jr. Officially in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Did I mention that the upcoming Spider-Man movie has an actual title? Probably not. If you’re coming here for your movie news then you should probably re-think that notion. Anyways, word on the web is that Spidey and Tony will be interacting with one another in the film and doing superheroey stuff. I think it’s a decent idea as Spider-Man will undoubtedly eclipse Iron Man as Marvel’s #1 cinema darling in the near future.

Sony Pictures’ reboot of Spider-Man will include Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., as it ramps up ahead of production ahead of a December 2018 release date. But the news today comes as Michael Keaton, who was being courted to play the villain in the pic, has fallen out of early talks and won’t be a part of the project. That had been a juicy idea as it would have put the onetime Batman star in a Spidey movie, but we’re told this is not happening and the search continues to fill the role.

Keaton would have been neat. Downey joining the cast is cool yet unsurprising. I’m indifferent about the idea of Iron Man being in the film. I’m more concerned about who they intend to play the villain(s).
