Jessabelle: Packs a Few Chills

— Posted by Jim Alexander

As a fan of “good” horror movies, I must say we have been on a good roll the past year and a half. We have been treated to pleasant hits such as The Conjuring, The Purge, and Insidious 2. From the looks of Jessabelle trailer, we are going to continue the trend of legitimate chills.

Location, is a vital component of a good horror movie. You can’t go wrong with having a movie take place in a creepy small country town, woods, or the swamps of New Orleans. Jessabelle accomplishes the latter. I mean what can’t go wrong in the New Orleans swamps? Voodoo anyone? Point made. From the looks of it, the story centers around a pretty, young woman in a wheelchair. Definitely makes it difficult to escape the swamps in a wheelchair. Seems like she’s haunted by a spirit that her mother was cursed with? Lots going on in the trailer. Liking the part where the girl finds her own tombstone, adds to some nice intrigue. The trailer notes that the movie is from the makers of Paranormal Activity, as well as Sinister, The Purge and Insidious. From the looks of it, this movie is what Paranormal Activity should have been like. Hopes are high for this movie. Come August it will either continue the trend of solid scares or flop. I’m betting we will have the horror movie of the summer.
