Kevin Eastman says the next Ninja Turtles film will be awesome

— Posted by Ryan

Despite the disagreements between Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird on the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, Eastman claims that there is a preconceived misconception about the film and that they are aiming to please the fans first. Take a look at what he said below.

One of the things that’s awesome about the relationship I’ve had with Platinum Dunes and Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman and some of the producers, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker on the series, is that It’s probably amusing to a lot of people what the press puts out there and what they say people behind the scenes really want to do with the movie, but [Platinum Dunes'] main goal is actually to make the best possible “Turtles” movie with respect to the fans and the core audience as possible. We’ve learned from movies like “The Avengers,” which to me was a superhero movie so good to me personally that I practically wept. It was perfect, you know what I mean? That’s the stuff that I grew up on. Joss Whedon just knocked it out of the park, the whole team did, and that includes choreographing all the interlocking movies. From everything that I’ve seen in the ["TMNT"] script and the development and everything they’ve asked my input on specifically, it’s gonna be an awesome, familiar, solid “Turtles” movie. It’ll have everything that fans are gonna want and then some.

He mentioned Joss Whedon and mentioned The Avengers which is always music to my ears, but the director is not Joss Whedon and the film is not The Avengers. The Ninja Turtles were my obsession as a kid so there is a fanboy side of me that hears the cry of, “You’re destroying my childhood,” from the fans. Despite my fanboy side, I am not going to judge the film but Eastman’s comments just gave the film some big shoes to fill. I hope it is awesome and it draws inspiration from Whedon and The Avengers but with Megan Fox as April and the turtles supposedly being aliens wouldn’t we just need Shia Labeouf to sign on to make this film, “Transformers: Turtle Bots?”

First and foremost, Ryan Brown is a fan. He has been an avid fan of both the theater and cinema since an early age and his passion for both has been continually growing ever since. When dissecting a film, he focuses on all elements of film-making including some fan/cult factors. He believes that character development is the foundation of a good film and usually starts his analysis of a film from there moving forward. His writing style may be influenced by his background of narrative and argumentative studies in the subject, but he tends to enjoy a more conversational style to better interact with the readers, unlike some other pretentious and pompous writers.

I hate the TMNT became something that kids grew up on. The original comic series was so freaking awesome, and the stupid, insipid cartoon utterly destroyed the true heart of the comic. So to all you people claiming "they are destroying your childhood", no they aren't, they are pandering to children currently, which if they released the movie when you were a kid, you would have fucking loved. Stop pretending that a movie made for kids is ruining your childhood memories when the movie is exactly what you would have wanted back then.

Everytime I hear directors, producers etc say this crap, it actually makes me think it will be crap because they feel the need to say it?

We don't need to know this! Its like a desperate attempt to make us feel like the film makers have got everything under control. Just make the damn film.

Take for example, director Mark Steven Johnson speaking about Ghost Rider just before its release, re-assuring fans it will be awesome. It was shit. Utter shit.

I understand publicity etc, hyping up a film is good for the marketing but it doesnt always work. Sometimes it actually makes people look stupid (like the example above). District 9 had very little publicity, obviously had a fairly good marketing campaign but was kept under secrecy and turned out to be a good film and still did well. Yet Peter Jackson wasn't doing press statements etc all the time?

Its not always needed and Im beginning to think its pretty pointless releasing statements like the one above. Also, whos cares about the disagreement, just concentrate on making the film! And making it good! Just my opinion of course.
