New promo photo released for The Amazing Spider-Man

Today we get a new look at the web slinger while slinging webs and highlighting his mechanical web shooters. Let’s take another look at the wallcrawler and critique.

Y’know what? I still don’t like the costume. My eyes just won’t accept this. The color tones are spot on and if I blur my eyes hard enough I can see past the inconsistencies, but overall im still unhappy with the change of presentation we have from Spidey. I don’t like the gloves, I don’t like what they’re doing on the wrists and I especially don’t like how the web shooters are a little disc under his forearm rather than little nozzles at the base of his palm. I like that he has the big spider emblem on his chest but I’m still not too sure about the eyes. They look funny and are a little too acute for my tastes. I actually have grown the like the boots and I think the change makes sense.

Don’t get me wrong I’m completely optimistic about the film and have seen some recent clips revealed by a cereal company, that you can find if you look hard enough, that show the snippy snarky side of Peter Parker that I always hoped to see in the film. I think Andrew Garfield has the talent to really nail the role of Peter and Spidey and drive this one home. I’m just hoping that at some point in the film that this costume gets trashed, the shooters get smashed, and he converts to a more classic look for the character. I’m typically not the person who outright oposes change from the comic but I’d rather see an improvement rather than a detriment.
