Jon Favreau consulting Pixar for The Magic Kingdom script

— Posted by Anthony

Pixar is a feather in the Disney hat. Somewhere, somehow Disney took a risk in the little company that could and then eventually bought them out. Ever since the company has been producing hit after hit with their animated films for Disney and more often than not have created heated internet debate as whether or not their films should be in the ‘Best Picture’ runnings. The secret is in the writing. Disney knows that. Favreau seems to know it too because it’s being reported that he’s taking his time with his next movie and is working with Pixar to polish his script and plan everything out. They want this one *JUST* right.

What we’ve been doing is writing a script, going up to Pixar, meeting with the brain trust, coming back down, bringing on artists, story editors and putting it together as though it were an animated film so that by the time we actually film it, we’ll have a rock solid story,” Favreau said. Of course, it’s in no way an official Pixar film, but Disney seems keen to use them…

That’s a very smart move. Believe it or not those Pixar guys know a thing or two about putting together a neat live action film. I like the idea and hope the continue to take their time and make this one right. There’s tons of potential if this film if approached properly and I bet that’s exactly what they’re planning on trying to do.
