Tom Hardy briefly talks Bane

— Posted by The "Superior" Anthony

AICN has a nice little news piece where they are discussing a TV interview, that Tom Hardy recently participated, in which he brings us few juicy details on his role as Bane as well as the possibility of an Inception sequel.

Via: AICN

Firstly he mentioned that he is signed for further inception movies. He was not sure if it would happen, but is signed up for it.

He also quickly talked about his role in the new batman movie. A picture was shown to the tv audience of Bain from the joel schumacher Batman and Robin. He made a point if saying Chris Nolans Bain would be a non-gimp mask wearing villain. He also mentioned he had 3 months to bulk up from is current frame of 12 stone to 14 stone to start filming in may.

That is one bad looking Bane from Schumacher, and I have the utmost confidence that Nolan can find some tantalizing way to improve over the mediocrity we received from previous movies. It’s no real surprise that he needs to bulk up and I find solace in the fact that he pointed out the “no gimp mask” for the character. I can debate on and on about how deep and fantastic of a choice it was to include Bane/Hardy thus far but the real confirmation will be in the footage.

Ya Bane is super intelligent, the whole point that he built his mind and body to perfection and then venom was the next step. He is multi linguel and a great strategist. If Bane is based on the comics it’s gonna be a wild ride!!

I have no doubt that Nolan will construct a Bane that is both new and modernized but also keeps some of the original elements of the character as well. With this said I am very curious as to how bane will fit in with the Nolan-Style world of Batman. I feel that they are kind of wasting hardy’s potential here with him playing a villain that will most likely be covered in a mask and not have too many lines. Hardy is capable of so much more than that seen clearly from his work in Inception.

Not just inception, man. You really need to see Bronson. That’s where Hardy truly shines. He’s fantastic.

What makes you think that Bane wont have many lines?

Well if stays away from Schumacher’s version of Bane as just being a brute than he will have plenty to say. Bane is also highly intelligent and can more than likely work his way up in the criminal underworld. I hope they give him a brief origin as flashbacks of him being a boy growing up in prison. That would give the edge and grit that Nolan puts in his Batman films.

haha yes Schumachers version kind of killed it for me. But im not worried when it comes to Nolan he has not dissapointed me yet. Wait, Bane is super intelligent…? Was this in the original comics? I was unaware of that fact. In that case Nolan should have no problem fitting him in his world of crime, and that means hardy will get to have pleanty of lines, YES!

It looks more “Lucha Libre” than gimp to me.

If this was his UK appearance on ‘Alan Carr, Chatty Man’, then that is slightly misconstrued. The presenter is a camp comedian, and when faced with the question ‘Will you wear the gimp mask’, Hardy paused and then said ‘I’ll wear it if i feel like it’. It was a kind of non commital joke answer, to a somewhat jokey question.

Why do I get the feeling we’re going to get a high society “Venom” dealing Bane. A wrestler size guy in an expensive suit, who falls off the deep end and overdoses on his own product. A Dr. Jekyll/Two-face style gig.

Actually that doesn’t sound that bad!!!
