Seth McFarlane’s ‘Ted’ nabs Ribisi

— Posted by The "Superior" Anthony

Ted is Setch McFarlane’s, (Family Guy), live action debut into comedy and it seems that he’s attracting a steady level of talent to help make his first foray into film a memorable experience for everyone.

The film centers on a man, played by Mark Wahlberg, who made a childhood wish that his teddy bear would come to life. Several decades later, when he’s well into adulthood, having a living, breathing teddy bear following him around everywhere isn’t as great as it seemed when he was 7. As a matter of fact, it gets pretty annoying. Especially when the bear, Ted, is a drinking, smoking lout.

An animated bear? Sounds like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon, but animation is and has been McFarlane’s bread and butter for the last 10yrs or so. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to introduce yourself to a new audience with your best foot forward. The film sounds fun if, not just a bit familiar, but I welcome the idea. I think Giovanni Ribisi is a pretty underrated actor and I miss seeing him as frequently as I once did in films and this seems like a pretty fun choice as a foray into the world of comedy. Not sure what character he will play but I already like the sound of things and have added this movie to my radar.

    Giobani! where ya been man?
I thought back in the late 90’s that this guy was the next big thing.
Loved him in Boiler Room, Mod Squad, Gone in 60, and a few others.

Avatar aside, what did he do in the last 5-8 yrs?

Good to hear he’s releasing more stuff.

Small part in Public Enemy and a re-occurring role in My Name is Earl… but I get what your saying. He had some awesome movies around the turn of the millennium, then sorta faded. Hope he makes a major return. Didn’t he have a small part in Saving Private Ryan also?

I have seen something like this before. I don’t remember where. Something comes to life, gets depressed because he shouldnt be real, and ends up trying to kill its self. I am going to be trying to remember this now.
