RUMOR: Spaghetti Western for Tarantino

I’ve long wondered what’s next for Quentin Tarantino after his foray into WW2, and now an interesting rumor has been floating around that he may be gearing up a shoot a western.

“The film will be called ‘The Angel, The Bad And The Wise’ and is a tribute to Sergio Leone. It’s a movie that contains humor, lots of action, but also a great plot,”

“We have already been signed by a dozen people who will be part of project. Among the filmmakers involved include Quentin Tarantino , Keith Carradine, Treat Williams, fifteen people in all Americans who want to do this movie and so we are trying to produce it outside of Italy.”

Franco Nero is credited as the person spilling the beans during the L.A. Italia Festival and I have to give this rumor a bit more credit than normal as the guy, seemingly, only appears in films every few years so I would find it hard to believe that he was under the impression that he’s signed on to make a movie unless there was some truth to the matter.

I’m ready to see what Tarantino has planned, and what he may want to do in the Western genre as he heavily used the motif in Kill Bill 2. My interest in his work has waned over the years but I’m more than open to his ideas enough to see how things progress.

    Tarantino’s next is supposedly Kill Bill Vol. 3 according to IMDB. I would much prefer seeing his take on a western.

    Gentlemen, Inglorious Bastards was based on MACARONI COMBAT
    it’s a difference, go look it up.
    I’ve read that it’s going to be about slaves who escape from a railroad company or something

    i remember a while back he stated that he wanted to do a type of spaghetti western set against the back drop of the deep south during the civil war.

    Interesting… Tarantino’s wordy style works well with classic Westerns.
    I just hope this one isn’t marketed as an action movie if it clearly isn’t. And I sincerely hope he didn’t get any inspiration for this from “Sukiyaki Western Django.”

    I didnt connect the Spegetti Western to Inglorious Basterds.

    in any way….

    He and Scorcesse are on my “must watch everything they do” list

    But Inglorious Basterds could be considered a spaghetti western, correct?
    Does that mean that Tarantino is doing two in a row?
    Not that I’m not excited for a Sergio Leone inspired film, it’s just that I’d like to see him add a twist to another genre.

      Basterds was NOT a Spaghetti Western… at all.

      I dont know where you get that. Do you know what a Spaghetti Western is?

      There wasn’t even anything WESTERN about it. It was a WORLD WAR 2 setting.

        The film definitely uses elements from spaghetti westerns, although it may not be a traditional spaghetti western, I believe it draws on elements from such films.

        And Star Wars drew influence from Seven Samurai,World War II and Westerns too.

        I wouldn’t call that movie a war film, western or Samurai epic.

      I don’t think so but I understand where you could compare them. The opening of Inglorious Bastards is much like a scene in The GOOD the BAD and the UGLY, where the Bad is introduced.
