Idris Elba joins Prometheus

— Posted by The "Superior" Anthony

Idris Elba is quickly becoming a common name in the realm of sci-fi movies as today we learn that Elba, Sean Harris, and Kate Dickie are being added to the cast of the Ridley Scott prequel Prometheus:

Via: Cinemablend

It goes without saying that Scott didn’t reveal which roles they’ll be playing, but they’ll fit somehow into a cast that already includes Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace. Shooting starts in three weeks in time to meet the scheduled release date of June 8, 2012.

There certainly is not a lot know about this movie as far as the plot and story, but the cast is looking better and better everyday. Idris Elba’a name has popped up in some interesting productions in recent memory including the Office, Thor, and the Ghost Rider sequel. This is certainly, in my mind, a step up from playing opposite of Beyonce. I had a mild interest in this movie that just got elevated to “interest”. I don’t know what Ridley may have up his sleeve but he’s got an impressive enough history in the genre that I trust that he has something special in the making.

There is nothing wrong with playing Beyonces wife. If I were even givan the choice between running from alians or being hugged up and making out with Beyonce, which do you think I would choose?

Plus he also played in Scott’s 2007 movie American Gangster. To me, his most memorable character will be the one he played on The Wire.
