Full Conan the Barbarian in 3D Trailer Online

The full trailer for Conan the Barbarian in 3D is online, and it looks to be bringing a ton of eyecandy and a pantload of action.

Check it out.

This LOOKS awesome… but again we have a period fantasy piece with modern power chord metal. Seriously?

Its a little more anthem-y… is that a word?

But still, it just grates my nerves to see a mythical fantasy world and hear electric power chord rock. Just doesn’t work at all for me.

SAME SCORE with an orchestra, and it would be a winner.

I don’t understand why they do this.

Still, the movie looks pretty epic, and Momoa is already proving his intimidation factor on A Game of Thrones (awesome) as the very barbarian like Khal Drogo.

I have hopes, but I also hope this is just trailer music, not actual film score.

Hi, Neat post. There’s a problem with your website in web explorer, might check this? IE nonetheless is the market chief and a huge component of people will leave out your wonderful writing because of this problem.

I don’t know…I’ve been a Conan fan since the late 1970’s; first of the original stories by Robert E. Howard and then of the Barry Smith/Roy Thomas Marvel comic adaptations. A few years ago I heard about this Conan reboot and at the time it was going to be a return to Howard’s original version of Conan. Instead, this just looks like a rewrite of the Arnold “Conan the Barbarian” movie: Conan’s family is killed by some psycho and he wanders around until he meets up with them. This has Hollywood lowest common denominator/don’t stray from the known/Happy Meal tie-in lame written all over it. I hope I’m wrong. I would love to visit the Hyborian Age every three years and watch Conan evolve to become king of Aquilonia. But, alas, I am skeptical of this initial effort.

Indeed I feel the same way, I have envisioned a steely-thewed, square-cut black-maned “Freebooter” screen depiction of Conan since the early eighties…I will say the cinematography appears better that I thought it would, and I’m trying to rationalize seeing Jason Momoa as some kind of Garry Windsor-Smith-esque Conan. Still can’t get past the “revenge” plot-line though.

Sorry for the typ-o, obviously that’s Barry!

“This LOOKS awesome… but again we have a period fantasy piece with modern power chord metal. Seriously?”

Sean Hood (the film’s writer) has said that the trailer music is NOT indicative of the final film’s soundtrack, which he says will be more “old world” barbaric. Trailers use different types of music all the time.

The metal guitar kills the atmosphere for me too. An orchestra, with middle-eastern scales would work for me, especially in the Khalar Singh scenes, and maybe some grygorian type european pieces for the foresty-horseback stuff with the Cimmerian.

It looks most excellent. definitely going to see this!

    Sweet, looking good!

The reason they put rock music in these movie trailers is because the orchestras make the movie seem so serious and this movie is obviously just about tits and action. Nobody would ever look at this movie and consider it serious. It would actually pull “the general public” out of the movie as opposed to pulling them in. Maybe not while watching the actual movie but in the trailer yea.

Was it shot or 3-D or being converted?

    • Damian

Definitely converted, so hopefully the story and characters were developed sufficiently prior to that decision…

Looks way better than I thought it would.

nowhere near POP, this one has a guy who looks like he can actually lift his sword. lol

as for the music, Iron Maiden woulda been nice.
