Arnie’s dilemma

— Posted by The "Superior" Anthony

Returning to film may elicit tougher decisions than politics as the most interesting decision for the ex-governor, in my recent memory, is what he will do next. Fans have been following news of his return and his every move for his “decision” like a bad spoof of a LeBron James press conference. It seems that he’s fueling the fire by releasing statements like this when prompted at the Arnold Classic:

Source: AICN

“Well, first of all it’s more 15 films, obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things. Then also a lot of original stuff too. But I am also packaging a Comic Book character right now. I’m going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April.”

I personally think he should ditch all the re-use remake/sequel ideas and dive head first into the “original” movie ideas. His movies became the hits they were because they were “new” at the time, and personally I’d like to see something different from him rather than the inevitable criticism he’d receive upon returning to a previous role.

I hope he just chill’s with the comic book idea for now, as the genre is getting crowded, and he instead takes a stab at returning to the action/comedy genre… but if it had to be a re-use remake or sequel than most of us are still clamoring for a True Lies 2.

    Arnie, Arnie! No, No, No.
dont retread old waters man, It’ll come off as Last Action Hero cheesy BUT with a senior citizen in a lead role. Play Your age, stregths, comedic talents. Play the dad, uncle, father figure in movies and discover another niche like the great ones do.(DeNiro, Nicholson)Nobody wants to see Grumpy ol’ terminators!

Everyone seems to hate the idea of anyone else playing the Terminator/T-800/T-850 in the movies. Where as I have always hoped they would use someone else. Arnold is just to old to play the character now!!

In the flash-back scene in T1 we see Reese in the underground bunker followed by a T-800, which is clearly not Arnie. What would be the point if all the T-800’s were based on the same man. This was explored in the Sarah Conner Chronicles rather well, but the actor’s were to small. The Terminators should be built like war vehicles (Humanoid or not).

The reason the Terminator in T2 looked like Arnie is because of his connection to Sarah and he’s the 101 model John remembered from his childhood. But you all know this….right!!!???

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or Vin Deisel are good choices for a new T-800 if they were to revive the franchise. I’d also like to see more of the T-1000 (which ofcorse doesn’t need to be played by Robert Patrick, because of his mimmicking ability).

I’m still holding out for another Terminator movie, but we’ll probably just get a remake if anything.

I want Arnold in Terminator 5 directed by James Cameron. Wishful thinking though.

I like the idea of True Lies 2. Can maybe bring back Eliza Dushku as the daughter who’s gone into the family business! She can certainly handle the action.

    • 420BAND

Eliza Dushku was super hot in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but lately she’s looking worn out-or-too much plastic surgery, just like Rose McGowan!

      Fuckin’ shame!
Those were sexy ladies who had tractor beam powers when they grazed the screen.

This might be a little far fetched but i would love to see him as an older-ish Bruce Wayne and do an adaption of Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Return ….. only one problem his accent :( but would have been perfect :) That’s just the view of this english man but love that graphic novel so much. If not Arnie then who?? Clint Eastwood ??

  • giantguy1321

I think it might be interesting to get Dutch back in the sequal to Predators (2010).

    • Bigsampson

Ya him and the big nosed kid in the new one. Adrian Brodie

  • Mister Mortombachman

I don’t see how he would return to the terminator franchise. He’s too old to play a character that won’t age with him.

    • alkalinefan311

I’ve always thought this same thing! One interesting idea I had (it would probably never work) is have a new terminator movie based on the guy they based the terminator on. They almost did something like that in salvation but the scenes got cut.

      • Jordan

That is interesting. Are you saying the machines modeled the terminator after a particular soldier?

      • party marty

that happened in a TERRIBLE deleted scene from Terminator 3

  • Peter

    Make it be Duke Nukem!

The Role is Perfect for his Comeback, since the Duke is about to celebratie his very own Comeback this year.
This is the only one Role that I can think of that would do two things: pay tribute to all the Arnie-Action galore of the 80′s and reestablish him as the biggest Action-hero period.

    • TheSwede

W O W. Mindblowing thought! I’m pretty much a slave under Duke and you’re right, Arnies probably one that could pull it off but at the same time… no way he would agree to do it like it should be. TnA, blood, slaying of aliens…. so i’ll just say pass and keep saying “NO ONE could make a Duke Nukem movie”.

    • J

Duke Nukem would be redundant since his character is based on Rowdy Roddy Piper in “they live”

      • http://www.judymoodymovie.com Rodney

However, Arnie looks more like Duke Nukem. And despite who the character was originally inspired by, Arnold could play a great Duke Nukem.

There is no rule that says the inspiration must play the character.

the only reason I have trouble getting on board with true lies 2 is jamie lee curtis. She’s so corny. I wouldn’t mind seeing more with just arnold and tom arnold. He’s the right kind of corny to balance out arnies character. Just my opinion

  • Roderick

more terminator? yes please. predator? nah im good… revial in Expendables? Yes please.

    • Roderick

      Rival*/ bad guy
