Sony Pictures and producer Neal Moritz (Fast Five, The Green Hornet) feel no is the right time to reboot the Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers. which was based off of the classic 1959 military sci-fi novel written by Robert A. Heinlein.
They brought on Thor and X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz to write the script for the new film. Unfortunatley, they also wrote the Frankie Muniz film Agent Cody Banks.
There are few words that can quite justify the feelings that are stirred when reading this news, and most of them only have 4 letters. I’m sure many readers will feel the same way and start numerous protests to prevent this movie from being created. There’s always the possibility that this too soon remake could outshine and eclipse the original movie, but I’ll reserve judgement either way until more news is available.

Well, if they make the book, then it will be so different from the 1997 outing.
I liked the original movie, and it spawned my interest in reading the book, and but I hold the two as separate entities. Cause, lefts face it, the original movie was barely 2 chapters from the book.
Just my two cents.
I just watched the movie, and I have to say that it still stood up well to the march of time. No need for a remake.
It’s certainly worrying when they start making remakes of movies that are no more than 15 years old.
I still remember seeing it at the cinema.
Would have been nice if instead the concentrated on making decent sequels, rather than the horrible mess that followed the original.
If they make one that follows the novel a little more closely then what’s the problem? I don’t see a problem with them wanting to make a more faithful film to the book.
Dude, you act like the original was truly FANTASTIC. It was awesome because it was corny as shit and had terrible acting, not because it was ACTUALLY any good. I mean I LOVED the original but its a PERFECT example of something that could benefit from a reboot today. It’s an empty shell. What’s so terrible about that.
