Talks of a third Hangover movie began during the promotional rounds of the release of the second film but not much has been heard of the purported sequel since that time. Today we got word that Bradley Cooper has provided an update on the expected start date of production and a little more…

Speaking to The National Ledger (via Moviehole), the actor said the he hopes shooting will begin next September and that instead of an international trip, they’d be returning to California. He also confirmed director Todd Phillips is working on the script,” presumably with The Hangover Part II‘s co-writer Craig Mazin. Cooper added, “we stuck to the formula in the second one but the third would need to close the trilogy. I think it’ll take place in L.A. and not adhere to the structure.”

Hints were dropped during the press tour this summer, with Zach Galifianakis saying the film may involve the duo breaking his character out of a mental institution. There was also rumors that the film would go even darker, finding some of our characters dead…or have them all head to Amsterdam. It is all speculation at this point…

I sincerely hope they stay true to any ideas of changing the formula used in the first two movies. I remember reaaally struggling with my impression of the Hangover 2 mainly because I felt that there were too many similarities between the sequel and the original. Either way I’m certainly interested in a third entry and hope they manage to actually include Stew in their adventures for once.

It’s good that they are going to deviate from the standard outline in the third installment. Hopefully, it will be good.

As long as the main 3 characters are involved (original cast) I am going to follow this film for sure.
