Tron 3 in 2013

There have been murmurs, rumors, and tons of speculation regarding the next entry in the Tron franchise. Tron legacy did pretty well for itself in the box office but it seemed as if things might have detoured in another direction after Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion project at Disney got the passed over. Many speculated that he would be the obvious choice for another entry in the franchise and that they would want to nurture that relationship further with his project. A new director hasn’t been announced yet but Tron.. err Bruce Boxleitner has let it be known, publicly at D23 no less, that the next entry in the franchise will be in 2013.

I think that’s gonna make someone’s head spin over at Disney. Did someone forget to serve this guy a gag order? He speaks very openly and frankly that another Tron will be the talk of the town in 2013 and he’s one of the few sources I would trust with such keenly guarded information. Now he doesn’t get a chance to get into specifics about whether the movie will be released in 2013 or if that’s a tentative production start date, but I’ll follow cue with the guy who recorded this video and just bow out knowing I walked off with secret information released from the mouth of Tron himself.

it sounded like he said “2013 I hope”

I think this is intentional on Disney’s part. Bruce attends most of the major conventions and Tron Legacy was promoted for 3 years at San Diego Comic-Con. Allowing Bruce to leak out little quotes like this keeps the fans on their toes and rumors all over fan forums. Saves Disney the cost of promoting until they truly have something to promote and it keeps the excitement behind the franchise.
