Finally Warner and Legendary Pictures have released the first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder.

Source: ComingSoon

The film also stars three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (What’s Love Got to Do with It) as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (Unfaithful) and Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves).

Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

Behold Superman in all his glory and whats this? Did he manage to put his underwear on underneath his clothes?

After having the misfortune of seeing Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, it will take more than just a picture of Henry as Superman to get me back on track for this movie.

wtf… where’s his curl on his hair? and why is his suit so dark? i loved the super vibrant blue of he last superman with brandon routh. i just don’t see this guy as superman… really wish brandon routh was superman in this one. he was perfect, just had a sucky story is all… oh well. i want to see the trailer.

  2. 420band says:

You said what im thinking, SuckerPunch dropped his stock a few notches. need to see more. Delays dont encourage me either. BUT the suit is fine, thats a huge “S” on his chest though and in that photo he kinda looks like Ty Burell. Also I hope he doesn’t try to save a plane full of people cause with that long ass cape he’s got on he’d probally get it sucked in by the engines(Incredible’s style) No Capes!
    :)

    wanna see more

  3. Xilpaxim says:

He looks like a beefier Christian Slater here.

  4. Lawrence says:

I’ll reserve judgment on Henry Cavill as Superman until I see the entire “Man of Steel” movie by myself. With this pic, I think they’re opting for the Jim Lee-look type look for Supes. Honestly, I want a truly epic “Kingdom-Come”-level type Superman movie that screams action action action.

    • Anti-Septic says:

Jim Lee has always been my favorite artist of Superman, So this is good for me.

Wont decide about movie until I watch it, which will be a long wait it seems.

  5. Roderick says:

still the dark blue is stupid. if they make him a dark character… piss on that.

  6. Geir says:

Am I the only one who likes this? Keep in mind people, this Superman is supposed to be a bit different from the regular classic Superman and it’s about time. Change is inevitable if you want this movie to succeed.

  7. jeremy1777 says:

    THAT. IS. AWESOME.

  8. Andrew says:

Looks good, but to me, nothing will ever be able to top the classic 1978 Christopher Reeve film. I liked Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill looks great in the suit, but as far as I’m concerned, the champion will always be Christopher Reeve.

  9. Jonny says:

Hmm…Can’t put my finger on it, but something about this looks a little goofy.

    • isaiah says:

i think it might be the hair, thats what throws me off of the pic, but i like the suit though, i think its going to be like that new spiderman movie, everyone complaining about how different it looks, but i dont change at all, change is good, i think after 30 years they should change the mood and atmosphere of a superman movie but yeah went off a little topic there

      • Jonny says:

That’s one thing that seems a bit off. I know that may be nit-picking, but it’s so poofy-looking :p

  10. Dirk Anger says:

I really like that picture. That looks like the kinda Superman that won’t take shit off of anybody, including any baby mama drama. Love the costume but goddamn is that a long cape or what?

  11. kingl says:

he looks evil in this pic, more like ultraman than superman

  12. jimbo says:

havent you guys notice that the suit it self looks like a bunnch od scales? it looks like thor;s suit

  13. isaiah says:

i feel another fan rant coming on like from the new spiderman costume, but i dont mind it at all, change is good, i think after 30 years they should change the mood and atmosphere of a new superman movie, hell im all for it, but the suit could look dark because of a dark setting, i dont see a bright blazing sun behind it so, but yeah, reserving judgement until after the credits after i see the movie, you “fans” should do the same, have a good day everyone, peace be with you

  14. Kevin C says:

I like the texture of the suit, its different…kind of a blend of the rubbery batman suit and the Routh Superman suit.

The “S” is a little wonky but that could be the angle.

I really like the boots and cape, they look ripped from the comic and thats hard to do without looking silly.

Im coming around on Cavil as Supes as an admitted Routh fan…

  15. spawn95 says:

like the suit, don’t like the face…

  16. goldstar0011 says:

    I really like this

What’s wrong with the face, Routh was picked because he looked like Reeve and that didn’t work out as a movie, we all accept a new darker batman, why not superman? He has issues right, being last Kryptonian, wouldn’t you be pissed if you meet some and they’re bad guys?

Personally I love capes (would have my own if weren’t for Mrs).

Bring it on, heavy action and loadsa destruction

  17. Castle91 says:

Is it just me, or does he look kinda… evil. The darker suit, the expression, the fact that he’s in front of a smashed vault door… Ahdunno. At first I thought it was Bizzarro or something. Must be the shot.

  18. Joopis says:

Is THAT Henry Cavill?! Does’nt look like him at all :o

  19. noob says:

the whole movie’s gonna be that picture in slow mo

  20. B says:

Dude looks like Iaon Gruffudd! That shot makes the “S” look huge, hopefelly Cavill has the chest to shrink it when he isn’t crouching. I’m still on board, I just hope Snyder isn’t going the way of Shyamalan.

  21. Andrew says:

Actually, the more closely I look at it, I think that Henry Cavill looks more like a pissed off Christopher Reeve. Well, since I love Christopher Reeve as Superman, this could work. I just hope that Zack Snyder doesn’t decide to make this dark like the Nolan Batman trilogy. I can tolerate a certain level of darkness in Superman, but not Batman level of darkness.

  22. Lawrence says:

Hope they don’t screw this one up. They already messed up Green Lantern. Fanboys want a true balls-to-the-wall action-oriented/fight-oriented Superman movie. Maybe Zack Snyder should ask Michael Bay for advice on the action scenes for this movie.

  23. norberto says:

Where the hell are his eyebrows?

  24. norberto says:

I just hoped they put more imagination into the suit, whe whole thing has the same look as always and even the same texture for all of it, and belt buckle? Come on! Put some sense on it and ditch it or at least make something useful out of it.

More of the same I say

  25. Mat says:

Cant wait for this movie, they need a GOOD modern superman movie, because the last one sucked -.-

  26. Julie W says:

It’s a good picture, but they will have to do a lot more to get me on board for this Superman movie. I’m a life long Superman fan and I was greatly disappointed in the last installment. I am very skeptical towards this film just by looking at the cast list, but I will try to hold my judgement (most of it) until after I see the movie.
