Dwayne Johnson will be… Charlie Pride?!

Yes, Dwayne Johnson himself will do his best to portray the great Charlie Pride in the upcoming biopic about the musicians life. Stop laughing, he’s seriously going to play a singer and seriously might be the breakout performance he’s always thought he was capable of. He’s Charlies thoughts on the whole thing:

But then the ball got fumbled. New management took over the studio that was ready to begin site work on it, and a decision was made to put all their resources behind thrillers – fast actioners. They felt that was where the big box office money was then… Now it’s back on track again but with action and comedy star Dwayne Johnson portraying me in the title role.
If anyone is still confused about exactly what’s being proposed here then let me take a moment to direct you to the following youtube video showcasing Mr. Pride.
This is pretty unexpected of the Rock to even entertain the idea of a role like this considering he’s been making the most effort in excelling in the action film genre. I’d have easily been able to accept him foraying into the world of rom-coms, but the biopic genre requires me to sit back and give this one some serious thought. Dwayne Johnson has shown glimpses of greatness in his career and could possibly have the chops needed for the role. Pride has a history in sports as does the Rock so that much may be a benefit for him. I’m not quite sure what to think of this one yet, but I’ll give this one time to simmer and take another look later.

Johnson is dark skinned being half black and half Samoan.
They don’t need to see his birth certificate to verify that his skin is dark, and so is the person he is potentially playing on screen.
Hey if they can change it up and make Nick Fury, Kingpin, Green lantern, Firestorm a different skin tone…..
