He Did Say He’d Be Back…

The CAA (one of Hollywood’s largest talent agencies) has begun shopping a Schwarzenegger rights package that will put Arnold back in the role of the Terminator. It’s being reported by Deadline.com and rumor is “Fast Five” director Justin Lin will direct.

The agency is dropping the package on studios this afternoon. I’m told that already, Universal, Sony and Lionsgate, and CBS Films are looking hard at the package. There is no screenwriter attached at this point, and Robert Cort is producing. This is the first real activity on The Terminator project since February 2010, when the property emerged from a bankruptcy auction and into the possession of Pacificor.

Personally, I’m kind of over the Terminator franchise. It feels like milking a dead cow at this point. But, I would be totally lying if I didn’t note I appreciate the irony of the Governator’s return to acting being in the role that marked his entrance into acting. Mostly, I think I just need to know more about this to decide if I care.

As long as we dont get another “T3″ I’m game!

I actually think Salvation is a worse film. (Please don’t interpret that as me saying T3 was amazing) :)

      • Ben says:

I totally agree that T3, while pretty cheesy, was a FAR superior film to the terrible Terminator: Salvation!

      • Rize says:

T3 shat all over the universe and tone/atmosphere that were established in the first 2. Salvation was a return to form.

Having an Arnold-terminator is pointless at this point in the timeline. And if they start going back again…. ugh.

    • 420BAND says:

Salvation with all it’s shortcomings was FAR supierior than T3.
IMHO part 3 was cool in premise, execution not-so-much.

not to mention the “Connor” they used as an actor sucked ballz and left us quenching for Eddie Furlong. Claire Danes’ worst acting performance aside. shit reeked guys.

      Just Sayin’

The only sequel I really hear people pining for (me included) is True Lies 2…but he never even seems to mention that.

What the.? I have serious doubt they couldn’t put a new script together with that kind of material.

I don’t think him going back into the Terminator franchise is a good idea. A) he’s aged. B) He lost the physique. What is he going to be? A T-700? The father of the T-800? C’mon….

    • methos84 says:

Arnold may not be the Terminator this time around. He could very well be a member of the Resistance, perhaps the man the T-800 was modeled after.

  4. Mad_2_the_Max says:

They should just reboot the whole damned franchise and give the cyborg role to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!

    • isaiah says:

a smack talkin’, eye brow raisin’, a smack down givin’ terminator

but in all seriousness, i think he would make a good one, sure as heck has the physique for the role

  5. Lawrence says:

I’m sure they’ll come up with something. I hope they bring back the T-1000 as well.

  6. Raymond says:

If they find some way to bring back John “Edward Furlong” Connor I’m game.

  7. Jordan says:

T3 was a decent movie compared to an average movie. Compared to T2 and T1 it was utter shit.

It was a bit hard to swallow Arnold as a terminator in that film, so yeah now it would be a bit retarded.

I was really hoping that T Salvation was going to be better. In fact it was a lot better than T3, but they did drop the ball on some aspects (Kate Connor). The action and CG was awesome and fit the terminator style, but so much of the acting was utter shit and there was too much cheese injected into scenes that it didn’t fit into.

My vote: Hell nah! Arnold needs to steer clear of Terminator. And if we are looking for Cameron style Terminator, theres no fucking way Justin Lin can pull that off.

    fuck me.
