Duncan Jones In Talks for Wolverine

It is only a bit of curiousity on his part, but Duncan Jones, director of ‘Moon’ and the recent ‘Source Code’, might be looking into picking up Darren Aronofsky’s tab as the director for ‘Wolverine’ Empire online reports:

“Who knows what’ll be coming up next - I have a lot of meetings and catching-up to do when I get back to LA,” says the director, who’s since confirmed that one of them would be with 20th Century Fox to talk Logan. “[Wolverine is] more interesting to me than Batman,” he told IGN at this weekend’s Kapow! “A good Wolverine film could be an amazing thing.” Yes, it’s vague but it does sound like Jones is a strong contender.

While Jones has other possible projects on his plate, he’s pretty much free for the moment. As I think about it, if he really wants Wolverine, I don’t see a reason for Fox to turn him down- so long as he agrees to stick to the Japan storyline which is a focus of the film. I’ll say it is in the realm of possibilities. It would also slightly confirm Hugh Jackman’s optimism that the production would ‘find a director’ within a short period of time.

Nothing’s set in stone yet, but what do you think? Would Jones bring something interesting to the X-Men film universe?

I am okay with this! Duncan Jones is a great director, Moon was amazing. I’d like to see what he’d do with Wolverine.

no complains here, duncan jones is one of the most talented young director of today :). I’m pretty much stoked he could bring his imaginative creative vision to Wolverine.

    saving grace?

Haven’t seen source code yet, but moon was one of my favorite movies of 09. Jones is probably better suited for this kind of movie than Arronofsky anyway.

  6. Anthony says:

Meh. What’s Alfonso Cuarón up to these days?

  7. Lawrence says:

For very obvious reasons, I don’t think Fox can let the entire cast and crew film in Japan right now.

You need to pick up a news paper or something. Japan still very much exists.

You make it sound like they were reduced to nothing but rubble and no one survived.

The film doesn’t need to be IN Japan to look like it was, but if they chose to film there, I am sure they could make it work.

yes, yes and yes. I like the idea of Jones on Wolverine. The Patch storyline in Japan or Wolverine coming back?
I think he would be great at humanizing Logan and his connections to his past.
