Captain America Sequel Ideas

Everyday I’m reminded that it’s increasingly popular to begin scripting a sequel before the original movie is released. Maybe it’s cheaper that way? Either way the guys behind the Captain America movie are brainstorming the massive potential involved in Captain America sequels and them either being contemporary or period pieces.

We’re very early, still. This is the fun part — when we can say, “Hey, we can do this!” and everyone says, “Yeah!” No one says anything negative at this point in the process” says Markus. “We have a million great ideas and haven’t thrown any of them out yet. That being said, it’s sort of a weirdly huge opportunity for storytelling in that you know modern Cap through the Avengers at that point, and just by the nature of what we were talking about before, there’s going to be a lot of his World War II history we haven’t shown. We’re going to have two entire timelines to play with.

I never even considered that these guys might stick with WWII beyond this movie. This makes me really really wonder exactly how the upcoming Captain America movie will end, and how it will tie into the Avengers, because they’ve seemingly just thrown out a theory that he’ll just be frozen in suspended animation by the end credits. And what about the under-appreciated Bucky? Hmmm…

if they go with frozen ending… i dont think a sequel taking place durring ww2 is possible…

What i’d like to see is, Captain America’s experience adapting to the Modern world, and a good way to revist ww2 is through flash backs..

Captain America is a tragic character if anything, his entire life and all the people he’s loved has died, America during WW2 isn’t the same America as it is now. And it would be awesome to see him struggle with the changes that have happened to this country and the world since he’s been away.
