Val Kilmer returns as Wyatt Earp

Val Kilmer has had a fairly distinguished career portraying various roles in various genre’s with few resonating as well as his depiction of Doc Holliday in the 90’s hit film “Tombstone”. Today we learn that he’s finally going to be returning to the western genre of films as he’s a lock for titular character Wyatt Earp in “The First Ride of Wyatt Earp”.

The film is based on a true story and centers on “an elderly Earp sitting down with a reporter to reflect on the ride that made him a legend, when the young marshal rounded up a posse to track down the outlaw who mistakenly murdered the woman he loved.”

Val Kilmer is an enigma to me, but I respect his talent. There have been few times that I’ve seen him in a role where I didn’t really appreciate his presence and performance especially in Tombstone. I’m presuming his role will be to portray the older, over the hill, version of Earp and maybe they’ll cast a younger look a like for any flashbacks.

I’m curious to see how Hollywood decides to further portray the western genre after Jonah Hex threw up on tarnished the house the 3:10 to Yuma re-built for me.
