Tom Cruise Top Choice For Mtns of Madness

Tom Cruise is in talks to star in Guillermo del Toro’s new film. Del Toro is finishing up his script for “At the Mountains of Madness,” the H.P. Lovecraft adaption he is directing with producer James Cameron, and has Cruise eyed for the lead.
MTV News reports:
“Tom does want to do the picture,” Cameron said of Cruise’s continued interest. “I don’t think we have a deal with him yet, but we’re hoping to get that closed soon. Guillermo is madly working on a new draft of the script,” he added. “Hopefully we’ll be shooting by June or July.”
Like so many, the prospect of this film is so awesome to me, and I really think del Toro is exactly the director/writer to pull it off. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan, though, and I worry he’ll bring to this film that sort of casual arrogance and flat acting that I can’t stand in so many of his performances.
Does casting Tom Cruise in this film scare anyone else?
Regardless of whether he’s loopy off screen the guy is a proven actor, especially in roles that require more physicality. I trust in Del Toro and applaud this move. It just made a movie that I was sorta meh about all that much more interesting.

Del Toro can make a canned ham into a great film, Cruise will turn it into a canned ham piece of shit if he is in it.
