Star Wars BluRay Release Trailer Online

I have been waiting a long time to hear this news. And I swear this is the LAST time I will let George Lucas con me into buying his Star Wars Saga again.
This is the BluRay release trailer for the Star Wars Saga
Now before you get all your nerdrage boiling in your Darth Vader Underroos, the series will be presented in three different releases to appease the fanbase. But still people will complain.
Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes I-III)
Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy (3-disc set includes Episodes IV-VI)
So yes, Lucas will be releasing the Trilogies as their own release for those who do not want the Prequel Trilogy, or wish to buy them in installments. Granted, those buying it all at once will be rewarded with additional content on three other disks.
MSRP suggests Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will be available for $139.99 US/$179.99 CAN and the Star Wars: Trilogy Sets for $69.99 US/89.99 CAN.
The only oversight I can see fanboys getting all Sandpeople about is the lack of the original un-Special Edition prints.
I honestly don’t see the need to have the original releases (maybe because I own them on Letterbox VHS and still watch my Special Editons) and on this I am fully on George Lucas’ side for not releasing them. In his opinion, he has improved his product, so why would he want to offer the previous versions? That would be admitting he failed to improve them, which is clearly not his opinion.
I know the purists will still pine for a copy of the originals and complain that Lucas could easily offer a copy in a collection like this, but I can see why he wouldn’t bother.
Despite Amazon taking pre-orders, an official date has not been announced.
Will you be buying the whole set?
Suprisingly enough, if i buy this it’ll be the first time I’ve spent money on home versions of any Star Wars.
Same here, considering either the full set to get the bonus material, or just the originals. Either way it would be my first star wars purchase. How I wanted the laserdisc collection as a kid, but on a kids allowance might as well wanted a car.
I doubt I’ll spring for this though. I’ve waited this long, may as well wait and see what else LucasFilm pulls out of the vault.

I had the laser disc collection. It was the main reason I bought a LD player in the first place.
This will be the last time I buy as well. I myself pre-ordered the Full Saga Set.
Ok yeah I guess I might buy it. What I don’t get is with the massive success of the Star Wars universe book series, the Tim Zahn Series, etc. Why the hell they don’t make a decent movie. The Episodes 1,2,3 might be the most dissappointed I’ve ever been with George L -
I pre-ordered the Saga this past Friday from Amazon. Their price was $89.99USD. Pretty sweet. I have no idea if this will be the last time I purchase these. I’ve had every version except for laser disc.
At that price it looks like you bought one trilogy or the other. Amazon has the Saga listed at $139.99US
maybe you are looking at something else rodney on amazon they have it 89.99 and they have the individuals at 44.99 im looking at it right now
Its on special right now for pre-order. If you look at the regular price, I suspect thats how much it will be by release dates.
The last time you buy the saga…. That is until Blu Ray 2 comes out with HD 3840 x 2160 resolution or whatever the next Gen will be…
No - I’ll pass on these. The next time I give Lucas money for these is when he releases remastered versions of the originals. (Yes - I know that isn’t likely to happen while he’s alive.)
I understand that Lucas feels these are his films. I would argue that he gave them to us to fall in love with - and we did! All we “Sand people” really want is the opportunity to relive those wonderful versions of the films. He isn’t obligated to do so, but it is disheartening that his ego stands in the way of making so many happy. Such is the way of genius I suppose…
He doesn’t feel they are his films. They are his films.
He didn’t give them to you to love, he created something that you love.
Its not his ego, its his choice. He improved it (his opinion) so why would he release the inferior versions?
No - I agree that he technically owns them. (I did read what you wrote in your post - no need to rewrite the same thing.) But in the bigger sense, the art is greater than the man. These films will out live Lucas. When he dies, our grandchildren will be watching these films with no idea who Lucas was. So it’s a pity that his original versions won’t be represented in a better condition than my bootleg laser disc transfers or your VHS tapes.
Just as the original master tapes of the Beatles albums are a treasure - so are the original versions of these films.

They are his. Legally, financially and intellectually. He owns the property and can approve anything he wants to be done to it.

the only way I’ll spend more cash is A: I’ll buy it in 2-3 yrs from now when my 5 yr old starts to get interested or B: theres a special feature on one of the bonus discs that has a (Full HD)P.O.V. video of Leah in the gold bikini blowin’ Chewbacca!

I NEED IT. The force is strong in the 9 disc set. to bad i dont have a blue ray and a hdtv. it sucks to be poor.
