Hey when Superman does his 100 crack fist of the north star on DARKSEID’s face at the end is pretty freaking awesome.
Superman isn’t as strong on Apocalypse because there is no sun (DUH)
But yeah you would have no movie or superman comic series if he was used properly because he would just crust everything.
There is a line from the old Superman Animated Series when DARKSEID invades and kills Superman’s friend and he tells DARKSEID that he has to be careful about everything his whole life because he could destroy things with a thought and he is sick and tired of holding back but you can take it can’t you and he just blasts DARKSEID. That scene sums Superman up for me.
That “I live in a world made of cardboard” scene is by far the most moving thing I have ever seen in any interpretation of Superman.
Ever.
know where i can find a clip of that?
I watched all of the Smallville episodes after Season 5 and they almost come to grips with this “cardboard box” story line but never flesh it out
There ya go…

Superman is always used so poorly in any film or series. They made this ultimate character who is capable of almost anything and now they have to kind of pay the price. The guy could pretty much annihilate anything in his path but yet he only moves at blinding speed up until he has to hit something. Then he goes normal and has to punch it, which seems so anti-climactic. Just like you said, why would he or anyone even think to punch a flame? There is nothing solid in there for him to be making contact with. You would think that the people who come up with this stuff would be such big fans of comics and their stories that they would think before they do something so silly. Any animated version of batman has always been so pathetic, at least in the Justice League world. He is just a dude with some gadgets and knows karate but somehow he can take on villains with powers akin to Superman. So ridiculous its almost funny…actually it is funny.
that battle is so anti-climatic.
first of all. superman could move at the speed of sound and murder those tanks with one punch by the time anyone knew what happened. instead, hes punching fire, which makes zero sense.
on top of that, batman does a cartwheel and punctures their tire? again, whilst punching the fire superman can use his eye lasers.
lastly, why haven’t they made a live action adaptation of wonder woman?
